Don't go to the dark side. Stick with Samsung.

I have had an iPhone Pro Max for awhile and am happy with it as a second camera. Just returned from a cross-country trip to see family members and used it as my only camera to get still shots and a couple movie clips that I'm quite happy with. It was expensive but I can do lots of useful things with it aside from using it as a camera and phone.

Thanks for all the responses. While undecided I'm leaning towards Apple because the overall look of images I've been able to find in online comparisons seems a bit better with Apple, except in low light conditions. Here is an example article with comparisons: https://www.tomsguide.com/face-off/samsung-galaxy-s22-ultra-vs-apple-iphone-13-pro-max

My Samsung Note8 is finally giving up the ghost. The charging connector doesn't work (yes, I've cleaned it) and the battery life is getting intolerable.

I quit Apple when they refused to repair my iPhone6 Plus that developed iPhone touch disease (a bad batch of system boards) because I had the battery replaced at uBreakIFix. I swore I'd never go back, but because my whole family carries iPhones I'm left out of sharing family stuff easily.

I want the best camera possible for photos and video and I'm trying to decide between the iPhone 13 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Any opinions?

You might want to take a look at Google Pixel. Outstanding camera, best implementation of Android OS, and in general a very friendly phone to work with. I still have and use my Pixel XL with it's original battery. When the time comes, I will buy whatever current version of the Pixel that is available. My wife has a Samsung 8 and she is always complaining her battery doesn't hold a charge. I use my phone for GPS while hiking and bike riding - and I often come back with 70% charge left after using it for 5 hours. Not bad for a phone that is 9 yrs old.

Samsung S21+or better. Why can you not share stuff if you go Android? You can share anything. I do it all the time. Most of my family have apple (I have hated apple since the 2c) and we share anything all the time.

Why the bias (just curious since I'm looking)?

For me it is Apple's failure to repair parts that need to be repaired--like the Lighting Port. Your choice is to buy a new iphone when all you really need is the port to be fixed. The Apple store sales person has told me that the port part is part of the device and cannot be fixed.

I still have an iphone because most of my family uses them too. I would like to get something different.

iPhone 13 Pro MAX is what I have and it performs very well and I have the RAW Pro built in. Also splurged for 1 TB of RAM.

I've just bought a Pixel 6 to replace a Samsung S10.

Both the new Pixel and the latest Samsung have terrific cameras, the Pixel sidesteps Samsung's Android skin and eliminates all Samsung's programs which I why I went with the Pixel.

There should be a new Samsung out shortly.

Disappointing that so many don't respond to an OP's question, and not just this thread.

The original question was a search for best quality of camera, not cheapest, or least expensive services, and clearly no interest in older, lower tech generations.

If your personal mental processes align with the Apple way of doing things, I'd expect you'd be more comfortable with an iPhone.

For Windows users, especially those who like to "look under the hood", an Android may well be better.

A lot of things about iPhones just work, and work well, but simple things like using your phone as an external drive connected to a PC etc is far, far easier on an Android. For, for example, transferring photos or other data files.

Plus, of course, if you pick a phone with SD card capability (which means Android only), your storage is limited only by the size of card you can afford - you can now buy a 1TB card.

I gave up iPhones when one day Apple decided to change how their iBook system worked and I found that several hundred PDF reference docs needed for work suddenly were no longer accessible.

Look into the S21 Ulta. I have one and love it. It has the same camera specs as the S22 Ulta and for $$$ hundreds less. If you want the Spen, then get a case that has the Spen with it. Still Hundreds less. I think you'll love it. I took this with my S21 Ulta (it was snowing a little that day) through the driverside window of my truck, still very crisp and clear and no editing. I to (had) problems with Apple not starting behind their products, because of their product crashing I lost Hundreds of pictures and the last voicemail from my mother before she passed away and Apple had the nerve to tell me that I was S.O.L (shit out of
luck) they refused, and weren't going to do anything about it to help me. I hope this helps a little, good luck 👍

But you can't FaceTime, is that right?
