Lots of opinions there. We should be able to pass 35 pages easily.

Thanks. I hadn't seen that before. Tried to figure out what I was doing that year but don't know why I missed it. Will have to go through it in my Copious Free Time.
Maybe you should turn your priority list into a new thread. Could cover a lot of good territory without the controversy that comes with some of the topics.

And to think this is just the prologue.

Now that couldn't possibly apply to UHH,...could it? 🤔

It's tough coming late to a 35 page thread and making comments that haven't been made before.
It's also tough reading a 35 page thread with an aging memory and making comments that haven't been pre-made.
And acoarst not posting is never an option on uhh !

Sorry you can't understand what I write....
You write things like “ You condemn the excessive zeal of RAW shooters but are unable to see even worse zealotry in your defense of JPEGS. ”
What Bigdaddy said was shoot what you want but don’t spread falsehoods. He said he was against false information and there is plenty of that for which he provided some examples.
It would seem Bigdaddy is not the one who who has a problem with comprehension.

Thanks JD.
Good to know at least someone gets what I'm trying to say.

Like these examples:

I only shoot in RAW. The one time I switched to JPEG for my kid's baseball game, I forgot to switch it back until I got home from shooting Buttermilk Falls.
I vowed never to let that happen again. It doesnt take that long to let my computer convert to JPEG if I need it.

Maybe I do have a comprehension problem. And let me add that I'm am no expert in the nuances of the pros and cons of JPEG/RAW shooting (I'm one of those saving RAW
and JPEG; the RAWs for future review when I'm smarter on editing).
I have great respect for those on UHH with demonstrated skill and knowledge. They have built a convincing case of the benefits of RAW shooting. And in doing so, I don't remember anyone "attacking" JPEG shooting or JPEG shooters. And I see no evidence that the RAW folks are spreading falsehoods.
I've said enough (maybe too much?). We should just agree to disagree?.....

I did something very similar one time many years ago. Luckily we were on Location for another 3 days, so when I had to run around a bit, I went back and shot my do-overs and I made the same vow. I think that a lot of people feel that Editing their Files is too tedious and time consuming. I say whatever makes them Happy is cool. My problem is the fact that I look at my Images at a 2:1 size, in other words, I can be very critical of myself and just want to get the most that I can get. But, we also need to realize that todays Cameras can put out some very nice images. If all that anyone wants is a half-way decent shot, then they can set their Camera to Auto and Fire away. And if that is what they plan on doing, let them by a Good Bridge Camera. That would suffice their needs. But, I'm not going to go around and order someone to shoot a certain way or what settings that they should use if they are comfortable with what they are doing.

That's well and good, and the right way to think about it. The problem, as has been stated so many times, is those who promulgate false "facts" in justification of the way they do things, and attempt to convince others that they know best! It's simply a matter of ego. Edification, instruction and clarification have their place, and can be quite valuable, but rabid shooting down of the way someone does something serves no useful purpose. If they ask, fine, help them; if seeing something which could be done better, ask whether they would like another view. In any case, we must remember that even those most knowledgeable and experienced sometimes disagree, so it's necessary to UNDERSTAND and evaluate in order to come to a satisfactory conclusion. And above all, many are quite happy with the way they do things, and don't need their methodology denigrated or their character besmirched for their choices!
Again, you said it right; it's just unfortunate that there are those here who do not follow those principles.
