Outstanding!
Where were these taken?
Yellowstone in Lamar Valley at the confluence. We had hoped wolves would show up, but no such luck!
Very nice set of natures cleaning crew.

Excellent set, Beth! As I understand it, the golden eagle is more fierce than its bald cousin.
Well, I know the coyotes were constantly on the look out! I don’t know if they were watching for wolves that will kill a coyote, or it the Golden Eagle was their big concern. One would leave and the other would show up!

I’m glad, was not sure if everyone would like the ram in the photo, so he was cropped out of several!

I have a tendency to contest the ID of a golden eagle when viewing photos of these large raptors, I guess due to my lack of experience ever seeing one up close like this. But this time, after checking out some guides, yes, pretty sure this is a golden. WOW!!!!! Lucky you. Right place, right time, and all that stuff. Must have been a great experience having this bird fly in. Good stuff and thanks for sharing!

GREAT pictures. I especially like the landing eagle. Thank you for posting. You must be in a uniquely advantageous location to take these pictures!
Poul.
When ever there is a carcass near the road it presents photo opportunities! We were hoping for wolves, but it was not to happen this time. We were just glad the parks service guys did not haul the ram that was really close to the road away, but put it with the other carcass that was almost finished! The coyotes, golden and small birds got a second course!
Marvelous series...thanks for sharing with us!!
