Like other posters, I use CCleaner but throttle it back because left in auto, I think it can be a little heavy handed. For me, it’s registry cleaner after uninstalling a program is its biggest benefit. Nice to hear about the Glary cleaner…

I use cc cleaner in conjunction with malware bytes and never have problems. A great 2 programs. Can get free versions of both if you want

CCleaner Free is a wonderful and very useful product.
I have Only Positive things to say about it.
I like the fact that you may select in some detail the items that you want to be updated/removed, etc.
I have subscribed to the paid version and found that it was also great.
However, I found that I just didn't use the added functions as often as I thought I would.
For me, the cost difference between the free and paid versions isn't currently justifiable.
Download the free version and you will receive discount offers for the Paid CCleaner.
For CCleaner FAQ's: https://www.google.com/search?q=ccleaner+download&oq=ccleaner&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0i512j0i433i512l2j0i512j0i433i512l2j69i61.5862j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

As ALWAYS, whenever you use any tool such as this, creating a restore point beforehand is VERY Important!
Sometimes my "Left Click" is way too far ahead of my brain, grin.
Thankfully CCleaner always says "The selected files will be deleted from your PC. Do you wish to continue?", and many times that warning has made me . . . .
Smile,

Before I retired, when I used PCs, I’d frequently used the free version and was pleased with it. But, that was a long time ago. I’ve since switched to using a Mac instead of PCs.

Does CCleaner or Glary cleaner or another program work on Macs?

Yes, there's a version of CCleaner for the mac. There are also a lot of other cleanup apps for the mac, but like PC's, if you use them blindly, they can cause more trouble than they resolve.

I use CCleaner and PriviZer to clean my PC's, CCleaner and Onyx for my mac.

If I understand it right, several of you have cautioned about running CCleaner on automatic and recommend manually selecting the files to be erased. Any suggestions on how best to do this and what files to tell CCleaner to leave alone?

Thanks, Bob.

I have the full Piriform Pro Suite (CCleaner, Speccy, Recuva and Defraggler) on all my computers and have used them for several years. Great suite of computer maintenance programs.

- I automatically start Speccy in Summary mode on all my computer to keep track of CPU, Motherboard, Graphics and Storage temperatures. Also great for details on computer specs.

- Recuva has saved my bacon on several occasions when I've deleted something I didn't want to.

- Defraggler is good for maintaining harddrive speed.

- CCleaner is always in the background to cleanup after browser use. It also does a good job of keeping device drivers up-to-date. Of course its main claim to fame is cleaning up a computer; disk and registry, and it works very well in this capacity. The Tools tab has some very useful maintenance features, the software uninstall being one of them.

It is worth EVERY penny!!

I use the free version mostly to find files that are identical.

I do not let it touch the registry.

Try the free version and learn the options, then decide if you want the paid version.

I clear out the cookies every day.Lots of tracking data about you is kept in the cookies. It is really not a big deal to have to sign into sites every time and if you go to the same site enough, you know your way around to find what you need. There is enough stuff tracking me on a day to day, if not hourly basis I do not want to contribute any more than necessary.

I feel sorry for anyone who is tracking me. Because that must be the most boring job in the world.

I used the free version for a few years before switching the the Pro version. I think it is good software and worth the money. I suspect it has prevented more that a few problems. My eight year old Windows machine has never had any serious issues and remains pretty fast. It still boots (using a SSD for the operating system) in about fifteen to twenty seconds. I've never had a blue screen error and never saw the need for a clean install of Windows. Someone else mentioned the registry utility, which I think has been helpful in keeping the machine speedy and problem free.

I use it all the time, and it does what I want it to do.

I have it and use it regularly for cleaning the browser out since I don't mind logging back into a site but it also has a cleaner for the windows registry.
You would be surprised how many orphaned artifacts are left in the windows registry on a regular basis.

I run the free version but you need to go into settings and limit what you want it to clean, it works and does remove all the cookies you will need to sign in to any thing that uses a password after it finishes cleaning your PC.

I have the pro version. Never had any trouble since I upgraded from the free version. Come to think of it I never had any trouble with the free version either. Pretty sure it does something in the background - but occasionally I run it manually and it clears out a load of stuff (of my choice) that I guess it doesn't do on the auto run.

What is the difference between the pro and the free, is it worth it?
