I'd like the opinion of any who use this software, is it worth it?
Thanks, Bob.

I run it very occasionally just to see what it finds, but I limit what it does, and you do have to be careful with it. In addition to emptying the recycle bin and temp and cache files, it also finds all cookies, and if you let it run unfettered, it will delete them all, and that is not a good thing. The positive use of cookies is they allow a site to remember things about you that tailors the site to your specifics. For example if you use Amazon, it remembers who you are, and will show you data on your orders, account settings etc. if you erase the cookies, it won”t know you, and you’ll have to login in each time and personalize the site all over again.

I clear out the cookies every day.Lots of tracking data about you is kept in the cookies. It is really not a big deal to have to sign into sites every time and if you go to the same site enough, you know your way around to find what you need. There is enough stuff tracking me on a day to day, if not hourly basis I do not want to contribute any more than necessary.

I completely understand your position, but I would add that it’s not just a matter of sign in/sign out - you loose your preferences and history when you delete the cookie. But it’s a personal decision. Personally, I rely on running SpyBot and Malwarebytes to remove tracking cookies.

Okay, the cookie warning is a bit zealous.

CCleaner is a bit like a new camera - you have to set it up for what you want to do.

It allows you to select any cookies you want to keep.

It’s massive benefit, however, is the registry cleaner.

Run that puppy until it only finds the same entry, over and over, and be amazed at how much faster your PC loads.

It does far more than empty the recycle bin.

The secure delete feature is another handy tool.

I've used CCleaner for years. I was careful what I wanted it to do and what I didn't want it to do. It can do a lot more than what your computer can do. If you are really paranoid you can set it to swipe your tracks thirty five times. That will make it impossible for what's her name on NCIS even to find out where you've been.

Like tramsey, Ive used it for years. Just personalise it to your preferences. Never had a problem with it and touch wood, my computer and my wifes laptop have never had a virus or a problem really, and we have had computers since they were DOS machines. (CCleaner didn't exist of course back in the olden days, but I don't recall any viruses back then either.)

I have the pro version. Never had any trouble since I upgraded from the free version. Come to think of it I never had any trouble with the free version either. Pretty sure it does something in the background - but occasionally I run it manually and it clears out a load of stuff (of my choice) that I guess it doesn't do on the auto run.

I agree - I've used the free version for years, also. You can set it to do what you want, and it does!

ONYX free version is excellent and is sufficient unless your computer has issues.

I used CCleaner Pro for years. Then I discovered Glary Utilitiies Pro. It is comparably priced and, in my opinion, does a more thorough job and is far more customizable.

I concur, used CCleaner for years and made the switch to Glary about 2 years ago. Very happy with all the tools.

Pro version: I tried it during a "free" trial offer (Note: I already have and use the regular free version, have been for several years now, simply for what it is intended, a browser cleaner....and I strictly limit what it looks at and what is removed - it does a good job of eliminating several gigs of crap my internet browsers pick up during weekly browsing use by myself & family) and reverted back to the free version as I didn't see the need for a pro "browser cleaner". The free version does everything I need, and keeps things moving at a quick pace (I hate a slow computer).

If you have not yet tried or used a browser cleaner, I suggest trying the free version for a while, set it up for what you want checked and/or removed each time you run it, or if a "free" trial of the pro, try it. It is just as easy to remove as it is to download it, so, again, I suggest trying the free version first...see what you think. If you decide to use it for serious whole system cleaning, make sure you decide what it looks at and what it removes, and use the "back-up" tools it provides.

The way I have it configured, I do not have to "back-up" anything as I have it set up to clean and remove only specific things. Hope this is helpful. It is not a bad product, quite helpful in my long term use, and in my opinion. The Glary product others have mentioned sounds interesting, will have to look at that too. But for what I need, the ccleaner has worked fine. Windows can also do much of this too.

Most of what third party software can do...Windows already does.
Temp files...cookies...history...all removed with a click once inside control panel.
I have zero software like that now...no worries or problems.
I had CC..it was okay...but a bit redundant.
