Very nice photograph. The water doesn’t appear to be frozen, which is surprising for -27 degrees. Is that black ice?

This particular river does not freeze.

First of all, I love the picture. But, how were you able to take it at that temp? What camera and lens were you using, that neither the controls on the camera, nor the lens froze?
What were you wearing that you didn’t get hypothermia or frost bitten fingers, (& toes, etc)?
Where in Finland was this, and how close to Putinland were you?

Three miles from the Russian border. Chemical warmers are my friends. Sony a7r3. I use hair ties to secure a chemical warmer to my lens. With proper clothes it is not uncomfortable at all. The biggest issue is protecting your face. The tripod freezes worse than the camera.

The foreground makes the photograph for me! Takes eh eye for a roundabout and slings it to the fabulous salmon colored last light.
