Judging by the looks, everything is VERY frozen--is that whirpool somehow frozen, too? Do you know what made/makes it? Or is it salt water, and so maybe not frozen after all? Even so, that whirpool is intriguing.

There were chunks of ice floating in the water which swirled around making the circles. The river was flowing pretty fast as was not frozen. I am in Mexico now but when I get home I will send you a shot that was not a long exposure so that you can see what I am talking about.

Great, I'd appreciate that. Amusingly, I have a small group of friends who now also want to see that. My sister was originally suggesting that there was a Loch Ness monster swirling down in that water, making the whirpool.
