Didn’t Canadian gas used to be by Imperial gallon or roughly 5 liters per gallon or am I wrong? It has been 46 years since ai was in Canada.
Yes, that is correct, we have been Metric since the 70s. Gas today were I am is $1.69 a litre.

It’s 3.78 litres per US gallon.

Canada changed over to litres in 1979. 23.6 cents then
A U S gallon equals 3.785 litres
A Canadian (Imperial) gallon is 4.55 litres
Gas in Toronto ON currently runs 161.9 -173.9 per litre
Vancouver BC runs 192.1 -200.9 per litre
$2 CAD is only £1.186 Sterling per litre the current average in my home town here in the UK is £1.471! If you ever wondered why we don't drive V8 powered trucks then it ought to be obvious now. I wouldn't consider buying a vehicle that couldn't achieve 55 MPG in real driving conditions.
Diesel $10.57 per gallon here in the UK and some area’s even more.
I saw a YouTube video last night from Ukraine. A guy and his wife drove around showing gas prices. They were around $2.00/gallon. I can't find the video now, but it's on YouTube.

Maybe. I know RVers who couldn't care less about the price of gas. They live in their RVs fulltime, and the price of gas is an expected expense. If they can spend $250,000 for a vehicle, they can pay for the fuel - gas or diesel. I've discussed this with them before, and they said they knew about fluctuations in gas prices when they went fulltime.

Remember when gas was this high in the past? Everyone traded in their Suburbans and big 8-cylinder trucks for smaller vehicles. At least fuel efficiency has improved a lot - my wife's new Honda CRV gets almost 29 miles per gallon. I am willing to pay more for gas if it helps squeeze Putin.

When I was working in our State's environmental protection agency (Air Division) we started high-fiving each other when gas got close to $4.00 per gallon because, as you noted, people suddenly find their gas-guzzling Hummers and big pickups a whole lot less attractive. Being retired and driving very little, a jump in fuel cost doesn't hurt too much but I do feel bad for people whose jobs require a lot of driving (and have to pay for their own fuel). So while the environmental effects are good, we'll all feel the pinch as fuel price increases inevitably become goods and services price increases.
In California premium is over $5 a gallon and goes up every day. Welcome to California!
