Thanks! Yeah, they look somewhat like a Purple Gallinule but quite different if you look closer. And quite a bit larger. They are an introduced species to Florida and found only there at this point. I first saw them about a year ago, they aren't commonly seen.
They are at Wako and Green Cay also ......they are spreading north !

Yeah, they are quite a bit bigger than Gallinules with longer legs. Did you notice the nightmare looking feet? Those things could be coming out of a movie screen at you looking like a Japanese Monster!
From a distance that's an easy way to tell them from Gallinules who have bright yellow feet.
