Nice shots--enjoyed. They remind me of a visit to a similar alligator facility in south Florida a number of years ago.

Nice shots. I never understood places like that unless you are raising them for skins. Surely you can't feed that many 'gators on the tourist income

I did not know this until I visited there a couple years ago and the speaker was saying that alligators don’t really eat that much once they eat they don’t need to eat again for a good while it can go days. Unlike us they don’t require constant feeding so it doesn’t seem to be that expensive to feed them.

Are these gators being farmed for their meat and hides? I thought gators had rebounded to the point they didn’t need sanctuaries.

Nice shots, BTW.

No meat and hide farming at the alligator farm, just for the tourist draw and income stream. Alligators don't expend much energy and spend most of their lives sleeping and sunbathing. A chicken or two a week pretty much keeps them. They claim to have about 1,000 alligators in residence. So you see I did not photograph even a small fraction of them, but did get several of the larger and most impressive animals.

It is a nice place. There is much more there than the gators. A nice collection of animals and birds too. A good size place. I still have the gator cup the beer came in, it changes colors as its temperature changes, kinda neat.
I plan on going back. Thanks for posting.

These photos come from two separate recent visits. One was on a chilly morning when the local residents were all fighting for a good sunny spot to warm up. The second was a warm 80˚ day where the residents were all bookin' it because someone was handing out free chicken' somewhere.

You captured the gators well but the birds to me are the main attraction.

I agree the nesting birds are the main attraction here, and I will have more of them coming soon as the birds are starting to nest now. I purchase their annual "photographer's pass" each year. It is one of my great "go to" places for photography in Florida. They have many other resident birds and animals to photograph as well.

I will provide some of those in my next postings.

Careful! Number 5 looks like the gators are building a pyramid to get to whomever is on the walkway.

H. Plenty of alligator farms in the middle of Florida too. Also plenty of them in there natural habitats along with various species of birds. Some members of the HOG that live here go all the time. I've been to Viera Wetlands a few times but there are other places in this area. Ask Cwilson or sb. They go all the time. Bad health prevents me from going alot. Take care, stay safe from Covid & happy hunting.
