To get this guy either landing or taking off it is helpful to spot them before they either start to take off or as they are coming in from above for a landing. It helps to have you gear set up ahead of time in anticipation of there action.
Here, I tracked the Spoonie as it came in from above and waited until it started to land and wave it's wings.
Nikon D500, Nikon 200-500 5.6 @ 500mm f5.6, ISO 500, 1/2500 sec., continuous auto focus, aperture priority, Group Auto Focus, 10 frames per second.
