Nope, nothing political here. As long as people like you label anyone with different political beliefs from yours as the devil incarnate and your enemy, this country is going to continue to be polarized and go nowhere while our adversaries just smile and continue to gain ascendency in the world. While you’re busy waving your party flag, our real enemies are laughing at our stupidity and devisiveness.

And, just like that, the comments went political.
Just like I asked for them not to.
Just like I was afraid they would.
Some people just can’t . . . .

I agree. NBC is wasting too much time on the rights issue. I can get that on CNN, if I watched CNN, which I do not. If they feel that strongly about it, they should have stayed home.

One of the reasons I will not watch.

This is NOT a political post; it’s about tv coverage, so please do not turn it political.

That said, the NBC coverage of the Olympics would be much better if it kept its focus on the athletes and the events rather than spending so much time dwelling on social commentary about China. We all get enough of that on the news. Stick to the games, NBC!

Yup. The five rings symbol was for a message of global unity vi-a-vis athletic competition. The added diaTRIBE diminishes the intended purpose. Focus should be limited to the athletes and competition...and, of course, ads.

The announcers are not in China so they can get away with this. I too am tired of the politicization of sports.

Well said. Too many people (politicians included) are uninterested in what might be better for the country and instead focus solely on gaining power and control over others who don't share their view.

Disappointingly true.

"Too many"...

I fear the list of worthy politicians of either stripe, those who are not interested in self-aggrandizement, not interested in feathering their own nests, who are truly there to best serve the country, would make for a distressingly short list.

I want to see an additional line on the ballots: "None of the above", in which case we start the process again, until we can find people to vote for who don't turn your stomach.

Yes, it's time to reward China for all the good they do to the world...

And they are indeed laughing and clapping their hands with glee.
