Since seeing this challenge I have been trying to remember if I had any dreams that were realized or not. When I saw Pat’s story about the violin, I was reminded of my journey to get a college degree. Upon my high school graduation in 1972 mom and dad really wanted me to go to college, but I had no desire to go. My argument was that I had no idea of what career would make me happy, after all not everyone went to college in 1972.
Fast forward roughly 16 years and 11 jobs I was working as a bookkeeper at a local government office and not only did I enjoy it but I was good at it too. When the office decided that we needed to go digital I had very limited knowledge of computers and my boss suggested that I take some classes to help with the transition. I took a few classes at the local college, and as my job morphed over the years, I took more classes to support my new duties. I realized after numerous classes that I was well on the way to an associate degree and made the decision to start taking the classes I needed to accomplish that. In 2011 I received my associates degree, mom was so proud, unfortunately dad did not live to see it.
Sorry I have no pictures to share, just the story, but I do have some pictures of the moon that I want to share. I have aspired to get a good picture of the moon for several years here are a few that are not too bad, all taken in auto mode and handheld.

the moon was changing colors this night from a yellow/orange to pink and almost red. I only wish the pictures could have done it justice, it was wonderful.

As I thought about this, I realized how many of my dreams have come to pass. The quote under my name in our high school yearbook (Class of '62) was:

If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.
Henry David Thoreau

...and it does describe my life. My first "dream" involved music. I started playing violin as an 8 year old. After high school, life took other turns and my violin stayed in its case for about 30 years. My parents bought it for me in 1956 and when it was returned to me, I had no aspiration of playing again, but....the music bug bit me again and I started taking lessons (still do). I always wondered what the music for a symphony looked like and wondered what it was like to participate in performing one. I joined a local symphony of college music majors and community folks (with whom I still play). My dream is realized. Playing a symphony is awesome! Related is a dream (goal?) I had to play a solo recital and overcome my nerves and fear of performing for an audience. In 2019, 2 months before turning 75, that dream came true with a lot of work, encouragement and participation from some special music friends. Every time I think of that day, I relive it in my mind and am so proud of committing myself to this dream. Yes, I worked hard to build the foundation under my castles, but the personal accomplishment that results is so worth it. (A photo friend took the recital pix for me)
As I thought about this, I realized how many of my... (show quote)

Very good. I’ve tried a bit but have not been able to be successful. Generally , Too much light in the sky!

You should definitely give it another try. According to www.lightpollution.info, my yard has a Bortle class 6. Your profile town is a class 5 (darker). Try to keep the street lights from shining on the lens and you should be fine.

Been cold here too, great pictures, did you take them from the house or did you venture out into the cold?

All my life i have suffered from not paying attention especially in school
my school report would read, Simon would do much better if he spent more
time listening to me instead of gazing out the window, but I could not help it
I was always dreaming of something or creating Abstracts in my head from
what I was looking at.
For this challenge I want to hear and see about dreams you had and achieved
or dreams you still hope will come to fruition one day soon.
I will start this challenge off with my visit to the London Motor Show in 1996
having stood in a line for 30 minutes to sit inside the new TVR Cerbera, it was
in a purple/raspberry color with tan leather interior, sitting in the drivers seat
was so good, everything fell to hand and I just thought I would love this car BUT
at just over £40,000 that was not going to happen but it sure did not stop me dreaming
about it. Then in 2008 i needed to change my work car and a garage some
100 miles away had the car i wanted and were prepared to take mine in exchange,
so a deal was struck and i drove over one Monday and all was completed. In there
workshop I spotted out the corner of my eye a TVR and asked the manager what it
was doing there, he told me the owner had a friend who had emigrated to Spain and
left the car with them to sell, and yes it was a 1996 TVR Cerbera in Purple with tan
interior, I could not help myself we came to a deal and I bought it, yes that day my
dream had come true, it had taken 12 years but I achieved it.
All my life i have suffered from not paying attent... (show quote)

I've been day dreaming over the past week of being in this night scene again soon... This was between Christmas and New Years in beautiful downtown New Smyrna Beach, FL. We were in shorts and T-shirts...

Burk,

All excellent, but #1 is just plain perfect. If you have the skill, I would suggest removing the vehicles from #3. >Alan

From the time I can remember, I always wanted to grow up to be a nurse! My mom was a great nurse . so I set my sights on making my dream into reality ! There were many cross roads during my exposures with difficult circumstances both study and practition wise over 56+ years ! It was and is a wonderful dream to be able to help people in distress!

I like both images!
