wonderful series, joe..the .gorgeous streets and colorful buildings are so pretty.
Thank you Merry for your generous comment, cobblestone streets and colorful buildings are certainly a hallmark of German towns, the set I just posted this morning featuring Bamberg's town hall is probably the ultimate in building decorations!
Your narrative helps with understanding. Iām glad you include your descriptives. More wonderful pictures of a delightful German town. Bavaria is filled with so much beauty. Iām thoroughly enjoying seeing new places as well as some, like Bamberg, we have visited. Thanks again for sharing.

Thank you Ellen - I am very happy to hear that you like both the images as well as the descriptions. Sometimes I am a bit heavy on the descriptions, but I try to do a comprehensive but heavily condensed history at the start of each new place, and then try to just lightly touch on details of special buildings, etc. I am glad to hear that this seems to be the right mix for you, and I know and appreciate it that for people who don't have enough time or interest, they can just skip the information and just look at the images, both works for me. Have a great evening. BTW, I just posted this morning the second set of Bamberg concentrating basically just on that splendid town hall in the middle of the river that you know well!
Great old-town photos, Joe. DL's are spectacular and well worth the time to explore.

Some excellent compositions in this series from my eye.
What incredible detail, you captured in the lady with the angels shot, Joe!
Reflections abound in that final shot, as an excellent finish to this set!

Yes, these baroque (I guess that's what the art style is) artists really worked lavishly on the lady with the cherubs. Glad to see that you like the reflection picture in #10 - did you actually realize that I duplicated this picture and also have it as an underlay in the title shot #1? - with the text on top of the reflection, it is not that easy to realize.
Thank you Merry, glad you agree!
Thanks for visiting dreff!
A great introduction to a beautiful city, Joe!

Thank you George for looking in on that European series I did last year and for your kind comment, I am happy to hear that this post brought back some good memories of the time you were stationed there - I always love it when people look in on one of my older series and comment, brings me back to the days when I did that series. Did you manage to see the other 2 sets I posted of Bamberg on the subsequent days? Bamberg was and still is an interesting city, there were actually a lot of interesting places on that tour we did through the North European Plain, mainly in Germany and Western Poland.
I don't know whether you are interested in other places of this beautiful globe, right now I am doing a travelogue series on South and East Asia, presently covering an interesting corner in the Sichuan province of China - I invite you to have a look at a post to see whether this strikes your fancy, here is the link to a set I posted the day before yesterday:
