Jackson, California... shot from the vista point on Hwy 88. Taken with my Sony RX1R.
Jackson is located in the heart of the Motherlode, and was a bustling area for gold mining during the California Gold Rush days during the mid-1800's. Many relics from that era are available to view in the areas' historical museums. The Mi-Wuk Indians also flourished here-- in fact, there are several grinding rocks on my property and I have found three arrowheads (so far) just walking the field. Though all of the gold mines have been shut down years ago, there are many folks who still pan for gold in our many rivers and streams.
The view is looking due east. The prominent peak is Butte mountain which dominates the Jackson area. Beyond that, you can see the mighty Sierra Nevada mountain range in the distance-- which extend 400 miles north to south and is 70 miles wide. Highest peak is Mt. Whitney at 14,505 ft.
Enjoy the space and scenery. I hope it is never spoiled or developed (I've been watching too much Yellowstone on TV).

When I first moved here in 1989 there was no one here... now, 32 years later, the population has exploded. I live on 18 acres about 20 miles out of town, so I'm away from all of it, fortunately.
The landscapes you've recently been posting have become quite a delight, and I've greatly enjoyed seeing them. Composing as you have in this one (and the others) is not as simple a thing as some might assume, so when I see it done, and see it done well, there's no other choice for me but to respond positively.
Kudos. Maxima kudos.

Thank you so very much!!
I'm also an artist (oils) so maybe that helps. Long ago In college (1980's) I had many years of training-- it's just kind of in my DNA now and I'm a stickler for prioritizing composition, value, and color.

Perhaps. Now that we live on the Western side of the Sierra Nevada Range we should investigate the Central Valley more. We have seen Mount Whitney up close from the East or Lone Pine side while traveling North on 395.

I've not yet been to Mt. Whitney, but it is definitely on my to-do list for this Spring!
Impressively well done, indigoblues.
