If you copy and paste the part between the asterisks, it will work.

The problem with this particular example is that the site's programming seems to recognize "www." as an attempt at entering a web address and creates a link. Ignore that link. Use the entire line.

Additionally, there are directories that contain information that is used by the site but not available to the public. On one of my webservers, there is a cgi-bin directory. It is not accessible by the public but the information contained within that directory works when called by code in the public_html folder.

If one hovers the mouse cursor over the 'Download' link of a posted photograph, one can see the link displayed, browser-dependent, that shows the 'static.uglyhedgehog' directory call.

My theory is that when posting a photograph on UHH, if the "store original" box is checked, the original image is given an identity and stored in the static directory on the server, and the Download link is programmatically created. When a visitor selects the "Download" link that calls the original file from the static directory and displays the full-size image in the browser. That is the only way to access the full-size version of the posted photograph.

Again, same thing I said. I did not however, mention that one does not have to enter the HTTP*** or www. But this is true. The browser will all the leading info.

We both are saying the same thing, and I hope it helps clera things up for some people. Hope you and yours have a happy and safe New Years Eve and following.

edit: i just noticed I used red as a standout color. I am not yelling (some people sometimes take it as such, like all caps), I just usually use red as it stands out more, I think.
color=red Again, same thing I said. I did not how... (show quote)

Not sure what the confusion is. I never once contradicted you and I was basically responding to rmalarz.

For me, this subject is a dead horse. No need to keep kicking it.

Does anyone have a solution to my problem.

Photos that are posted do not appear. I get a message that states, "Safari can not connect to static.uglyhedgehog.com"

My OS is Monterey. Is the UHH website completely compatible with it?

On the newest OS for Apple, you need to either use a VPN or have iCloud+ enabled. This is a security feature enabled by Apple to keep non-certified servers from hosting malicious content.

I haven't used apple for sLONG TIME. It sounds like the basically fixed you to is a VPN? A VPN hides your true ip address, as you say. Or is used to keep some one from tracking you. Some people watch movies illegally, and when they do they can be found, without a vpn. The streamer can also use your address as a streamer for other people, so a VPN stops all this, and more. iCloud is apple's VPN. Why would they force people to use a VPN? This is why I left apple years ago, I did not like them taking control of computer.

iCloud is not really a VPN, as it is cloud storage that synchronizes all your Apple devices. ICloud plus enables non-certified URLs to be accessed after being vetted by Apple, at least that is my understanding. It is good security and not a reason to leave Apple, unless you have other reasons. ICloud plus is not enabled by default.

Oh.... You said you needed to use either a VPN or iCloud, which made it sound like iCloud was like a VPN.

ICloud + does not hide your IP address unless you tell it to. A VPN hides your IP address.
