Does anyone have a solution to my problem.

Photos that are posted do not appear. I get a message that states, "Safari can not connect to static.uglyhedgehog.com"

My OS is Monterey. Is the UHH website completely compatible with it?

Linux/Firefox can't connect to static.uglyhedgehog.com either. I get the message, "To reach Ugly Hedgehog, please follow this link: Ugly Hedgehog". Ugly Hedgehog is shown as a link. That link is:

https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/

Just for fun, I tried that link on an office Windoze 10 machine. Same thing. The page provides a link to UHH home page.

I can’t say about Monterey, but I am running High Sierra now and have never had a problem with it or any of the previous systems.

I cannot connect directly to static.uglyhedgehog.com; I get a redirect message. However, if I click on a photo's download link, it opens the enlarged photo on static.uglyhedgehog.com without issue. Also using macOS Monterey (12.0.1) and Brave Browser.

Same here. I've been a UHH member through Big Sur, High Sierra and now Monterey without the slightest problem connecting.

I do not think you can connect to static.uglyhedgehog.com by typing that in, and here is why.

You need to connect to uglyhedgehog.com

Static.Uglyhedgehog.com is not really an address. It's a place holder for the real one on this site, so as not to show the real one, for security reasons. That's why it shows you the message to redirect you to the correct one.

A static address is one that does not change so that the service always knows where to find it, like the photos. This makes it good for internal connections.

The good probably has a static address so the programmers and monitors can work remotely. But unless you know it, you can not connect to it except by going to the web address assigned to it, in this case, ugly hedgehog.com.

Address are assigned by the isp, and almost always are dynamic, which change periodically to make it harder for bad people to figure out out and get into your system. They are also a cheaper cost because there is a lot more involved in static ones.

It's a little, lot, confusing. I could be wrong. Maybe someone else will come in and verify our correct.

I think you are totally correct. One does not normally enter "static" anything into a URL.

Like you, I tried it and got the following:

To reach Ugly Hedgehog, please follow this link: Ugly Hedgehog

At that point, you can simply click on the text "Ugly Hedgehog" and it will bring you to the home page here.

It's even involved than I mentioned. Every computer etc that connects to the internet has a mac address. The ip address is assigned to that Mac address. In a static system, the ip address is permanently assigned to the Mac address (which does not change), so it is always found easily. On a dynamic system, the ip address has to be re pointed/linked to the Mac address every time the ip address changes. Sounds simple? Not really.

A static address is easier for hackers to get through, so it takes really good protection.

A few people reported something like that. I can't pinpoint it.

But you need to be able to open this link: https://static.uglyhedgehog.com/

You should see a blank page with " To reach Ugly Hedgehog, please follow this link: Ugly Hedgehog".

If you don't see it or can't connect to it, it might mean there is a firewall or antivirus or something blocking it.

I have been using Macs since before Noah built his first boat. Of all the upgrades, to me, Monterey is the worst yet. SD cards will not load, websites will not load. Sometimes, turning off my VPN works but not all the time. It can’t find my mouse. None of these were a problem before the upgrade I did. Until this, none of my upgrades presented any problems and the upgrade was often done within days (sometimes hours) of the release.

Hours spend with the Apple ‘Genius people’ and support from my VPN provider were a waste of time, I’d have been better off using the time to watch paint dry.
End of rant,
Ron

Sometimes, you have to back to basics.

I just upgraded from a 2014 iMac to a 2020 iMac. My old iMac was upgraded to the newest OS whenever it came out and I never had problems. I upgraded because my old machine will not be supported on the NEXT OS to come out.

Just got a new MacBook Pro. About an hour after first turning it on (and learning how to run an apple after 40 years on a PC) I brought up UHH on Safari. No problem. Running Monterey.

I received that message on most of my favored sites, it was determined that my '08 24"iMac was not supported by APPLE any more and would not take that site's updated security info. I had Snow Leopard or ...? Pushed us to buy a new 24" iMac
