Superior?

Canon has constantly been rated best for many, many years and still is so rated.

...here ya go. AFAIK you don't own any of the Z system, yet continue to bag. <shrug> I can hardly wait for mine, and I've fully tested the system (taking my Z6II out today hooked to the 200-500 which is a nice combo), been buying glass as I can, own a D5 and D500...and will sell both as soon as I get the new gear.

Interestingly it seems like a number of "professionals" who shoot with Sony's and Canons also bought a Z9 to "compare". There must be a fair amount of money to get people to come to their posts.

Any time one picks up a new camera, there's a learning curve. IMO the one week Jared had the Z9 wasn't enough to get really good using it, the way he has with Sony and Canon gear with much longer use of both. For example, it takes time to figure out which lenses work best. He also points out a lot of things he really likes about it, doesn't "pan" the Z9. In fact, he's quite effusive about many aspects of it (and he's a Nikon fanboy from way back): Lack of viewfinder blackout, little to no banding under LED light, great colors and great B&W, high marks for the AF system, too. ALMOST as good as Sony and Canon... IMO the Z9 will probably just get better and better with firmware updates. Jared will be doing side by side testing of the A1, R3 and Z9 AF systems in the future, which will be a lot better comparison. (Doesn't make sense to compare resolution, noise, etc. between a 24MP camera and two with 45 to 50MP, as T & C Northrop did).

What's really pitiful is the Northrop duo panning the Canon R3. It's so obvious watching the YouTube video they dropped yesterday that they don't know how to use it and couldn't be bothered to learn. Again, it also makes no sense to compare detail at 100% between a 24MP camera intended for one purpose and a 45/50MP camera intended for another purpose. It's clearly a "sports/photojournalism" camera, but their "sports test" was a joke that appeared to last 10 minutes. They couldn't be bothered to go to a sporting event, instead just jumped around in their front yard. (At least Jared really tests by shooting actual sports.) Tony & Chelsea's "BIF tests" weren't much better... They didn't bother reading the manual and setting up the AF system for the purpose. And she doesn't like the camera because it has a vertical grip, which most pro cameras do. Pros using Sony install grips on them! She can't appreciate that the R3 is significantly smaller and lighter than the 1DXIII. For some reason they couldn't get shots of birds in flight with the R3, either... though may other bird and wildlife photographers have had great success with it. They didn't care for the Eye Control focus, but didn't take note that there are four other methods of choosing AF points in the R3. They also didn't indicate if they wear contacts, which may effect Eye Control. (E.C. may not be for everyone. I wear eyeglasses and couldn't get it to work consistently on my EOS-3 an Elan 7E cameras. Maybe the R3's would work for me, but I'll never know because I won't be spending $6000 on a full frame sports/action camera. I'm waiting for an APS-C model to replace the 7DII.)

I don't care for some of Fro's silly stuff, but Jared does pretty good job reviewing stuff. He usually does an overall introductory video like this one for the Z9, then comes back and does more thorough, detailed review after working with the camera for a while. I've lost all respect for the Northrop duo. Any more they just appear to be "phoning in" their reviews. I think Tony may be pissed because Canon appears to have taken him off the list of "important people" who get advance copies for testing. All Tony could do was read the specs of the R3, while any number of other YouTubers were reviewing actual pre-production copies loaned to them by Canon. They might be on Nikon's $#*! list too, since they haven't even tried to do a Z9 review.

That skin tone article is old, the new Canon RS cameras are too warm, Sony and Nikon have better color now.

Nikon makes a bold move in eliminating the mechanical shutter with the Z9. If nobody finds its down side Nikon would be the first and Sony and Canon would have to follow in their next version. If rolling shutter proved to be a problem with the Z9 then it would be bad for Nikon.

The Rolling shutter has been solved by all three of the big boys, no worries mate.
I even have a rolling shutter in my Sony a9, and it has not caused an issue. Below is a image of a Great Egret taken with a rolling shutter, do you see anything wrong in the wing tips?

If it was, this thread would be in "Links & Resources".

Some folks get a pass.

Threads are moderated for sure. I have the PMS to prove it. It does seem arbitrary at times and maybe some people get more leeway than others.
