Nikon Z9 Autofocus REVIEW: Sports, Birds, Concerts. How does it perform for you ?
This is sure to create a lot of GAS in the Nikon world. All the reviews I have seen so far say that this is a great camera. So the horse race is still on. This camera will probably or slow the number of Nikon users from defecting to Sony or Canon, but it doesn't seem to be substantially better than the other flagship cameras out there. The Nikon is cheaper than the Sony A 1 but if you factoring the need to buy new lenses then it is still cheaper to pay extra for the A 1 if you are already in the Sony Universe. Each camera system has advantages over the other in different circumstances.
It will be fun to see the passionate post both supporting and knocking this camera on this site.

Remarks about Sony are beside the point. How is it with the AF on your own Z9 ?
Wish I could answer that but the Nikon gods didn't select me as a recipient of one of their precious Z9 despite having orders in it at 2 stores (one order was put in a month before the price was even announced). My understanding is that the vast majority of those lucky recipients are NPS (Nikon Professional Services) members, which I am not (and not even half of these members got it) or ordered it in the first 2 minutes at the big NY retailer when it became available online to order. From my reading of various posts, it does take getting used to and some people have mixed feelings though others rave about it. Considering that Nikon had several months of accumulated production to distribute today, it is possible that ordinary people like me may not get there hands on it for 6 months or longer. So other than a hypothetical question (would a Z9 be worth having), not sure how much more one would want to know about it. And there are lots of posters out there and this number of people happy to have you click on their links is bound to increase in the days to come.

Hence, you’re trolling. It would be great if this site was moderated.

Don’t want to waste your time with incomplete review, BUT:
While I have not had a chance to give it a good work out, I have spent time setting up the menu settings to my personal likings and shooting style. I will say that it feels like a fantastic Nikon camera and the menus are logical and intuitive. Feels like an upgraded modernized D6. Loving it!
At this point, Nikon gets an A.

I have never sold my Nikon glass and still hold onto the D500 and D850. I also use Sony a9 and two wildlife lenses. I would benefit me with the Z9 with the adapter cause of my Nikon glass collection.
So, for now I will be watching cause I can do everything with my a9 (for me) that the Z9 does.
One thing I notice here is the cost of replacing glass when changing brands has to be factored into the decision. We all know selling glass you still take a big financial hit. I'm not how all the adaptors work and even going from a crop to full frame and mirrorless. I know with me it's not my equipment liminiting me but the learning curves involved in different areas that does. You Hoggers sucked me into BIF photos and now I realize how difficult they are and everyday appreciate how great your photos are. It's the same with astrophotography.

No, really it wouldn't.
Good review.
Z9 still lags in AF which is to be expected but as the review states if you are in the Z ecosystem this is as good as it gets.
But a big giant leap over the Z7II and Z6II in AF performance.

What is great about the ZA9 is the superior image quality which is to be expected. Something Sony and Canon have lagged in.
In the end the purpose of photography is the final image. In that, Nikon has never lost its edge.

Mine is waiting for me at Allen's camera. I will be getting it just after the New Year. The review the OP posted was well worth the viewing time. Haps Holidays to ALL!

Superior?
Canon has constantly been rated best for many, many years and still is so rated.
