Bought a used Dualit at an estate sale for $45 last year. Really heavy and solid as a rock.
I believe it will last me for many years.

I went online researching toasters for a replacement. Thank you China for corrupting our small appliance industry. I spent over a hour trying to find an acceptable toaster. All of them had poor reviews. Unless I'm willing to spend over $200 anything I buy will be in the trash in about a month. Cuisinart, GE and other recognizable brand names are all guilty. My intentions are not to rant, but just have toast in the morning. Sadly there is no longer a quality toaster to be bought without spending a crazy amount of money, and that's still not a guarantee. Any suggestions?

Why not use the broiler in your oven?

You can buy a decent toaster here in the UK for between thirty and forty pounds made in England and so far lasted five years

Looked at Dualit and they are very expensive.
Home Depot has this GE 2 slice for $39 with 4 star rating:

Check out some nearby Estate Sales or Garage Sales. Among the older stuff at these sales you have a good chance of picking up some "non chinese" items.

I bought a RIVAL 7 years ago, and it's still going strong....Don't remember what I paid for it, but it couldn't have been more than 25 bucks.

Still keep several of my old Army can openers on hand. Just in case.

I have two words for your consideration: The Goodwill. Many brands to choose from. Take a loaf of bread with you and test a few out.

I've got a Breville jaffle maker too. I bought it from an "Opp" shop used for $1... It's
a nice steel unit that works great... had it for at least 5 years... God knows how
old it was when it found its way into the Opp shop.
