I went online researching toasters for a replacement. Thank you China for corrupting our small appliance industry. I spent over a hour trying to find an acceptable toaster. All of them had poor reviews. Unless I'm willing to spend over $200 anything I buy will be in the trash in about a month. Cuisinart, GE and other recognizable brand names are all guilty. My intentions are not to rant, but just have toast in the morning. Sadly there is no longer a quality toaster to be bought without spending a crazy amount of money, and that's still not a guarantee. Any suggestions?

Buy a disposable toaster...

Welcome to the continuing saga of make it as inexpensively as we can.

Yea, it stinks royally!
And it's not only toasters.

It is the same here in England, short term cheapness over quality.

But did you acquire it when things may have been built better?
Like ten+ years ago?

ALSO can openers... You can't just rely on the Traditional good brand names; most of them really stink ! My wife is going nuts with New one she paid a premium for !

Desperate times call for desperate measures: stick a fork in the bread and hold it over the flame on the stove. If you have an electric stove maybe you can just lay the bread directly on the burner😳😂

One can buy a few cheaper ($25-$35) toasters for $300 though...
If one buys three $35 toasters over 15 years...

The only problem with that is that these three $35 toasters will end up in landfills polluting our lands.

But, yeah, manufacture everything here and the prices will be significantly higher, which unfortunately doesn't necessary constitute higher quality. So products still will be different in prices and quality, even if all made in the U.S.

I have and love my Dualit. Although I have a cheaper version-it does not have a crumb tray, it's been going strong for eight years.

Good that you spend $200 to keep two toasters out of the landfill.
That makes a substantial impact.

Same here. after junking several "premium" electric can openers, we bought this one and it has not failed to perform. Can't help with the toaster, ours is almost 30 years old and is still working well.
