Notice regarding the release date of “Z 9” and related products and product delivery
December 08, 2021 Product information
Thank you for your continued patronage of Nikon products.
We are pleased to inform you that the release date of the full-size (Nikon FX format) mirrorless camera “Nikon Z 9”, which was announced to be released within 2021, has been decided on December 24th (Friday).
In addition, we have received a large number of reservations for “Z 9” and related products, which exceeds our expectations. For this reason, we may not be able to deliver the product to customers who have already made a reservation on the day of release. In addition, we are considering increasing production due to the favorable reception of orders, but due to the influence of semiconductor shortage etc., it may take time for products to be delivered even to customers who make reservations in the future.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to customers who are waiting for this product.
We will do our utmost to deliver the product as soon as possible, and we appreciate your understanding.
Scheduled release date: Friday, December 24, 2021
Bad news for Nikon. If you can't fulfill the orders quickly you're bound to lose your business. One of the big success of Apple every time they release the new Iphone is that although they have a lot of orders at launch time they had enough phones for everyone who wants one.

Well, it's been expected from the time we learned that they were only producing about 3,500 per month.

This is the new "reality". Canon announced that it could take more than 6 months to fulfill their orders of the R3. Apple has done a tremendous job though when I called the Apple store they did not have any of the Mac Pro's in stock at any of the stores around me (they thought it would take a month or two if I ordered it online, their preferred method of ordering). Just be glad it isn't a pacemaker or another medical device that you need immediately!
PS. If you have tried to buy a car lately, you would know that there aren't any cars on the lots these days and it also take months to get some.
...big deal. <shrug> I'll take it when I get it.

...you mean Nikon is going out of business? Haha, funny...sh*t happens...
My God, what's the big deal?
It was tough to get a D850 when it first came to market, and there were no chip shortages back then. High demand creates its own set of problems.

For me, it's so much of a so what. If you really need, I mean really need the latest toy, what will the difference do for you? With the proliferation of editing software, most pictures can be manipulated to look spot on.

I don't need it nor I feel bad for the people who are waiting for it. I feel bad for Nikon. It's very bad that you have a product that people want to buy but you can't make it. Just as bad as making a bunch of products nobody wants.
I am not surprised. It seems like I have heard of some other stuff that was hard to get for the last few months.
They started putting tile in one of the bathrooms at our house yesterday. Have been waiting on it since February.
We have the Z9 ordered and have been to two different showings of it. I think it will be worth the wait. If anyone
knows where you can get gas for less than $3.00 a gallon let me know.
All the newest top-end models have had more orders than "anticipated" and the chip shortage is real. This all will pass, and those getting the Z9 will forget all about the delays once they have happily used their cameras.
I used Nikon and Canon for over four decades (both brands) and was both a Nikon NPS member and Canon CPS member. I am not sure if Nikon has a similar priority program for pros, but I got my Sony A1 delivered in the first USA shipment with Sony Pro Support Members Priority.
Cheers
Quite a while ago we placed an order for 5 of the Z6 cameras. I feel fairly sure that before we hang the 2022 calendar on the wall we will have at least one of the cameras.
