Anyone using the 80d? If so, how are you liking it----or not? My T2i bit the dust after it was dropped. Now the shutter won't budge. I should be getting my new, to me, 80d tomorrow or the day after from B&H photo. I have a feeling this is going to be a drastic learning curve for me. Comments please.

I had an 80D before I upgraded to a full frame camera. I gave it to my daughter. It was great but I wanted the full frame. It will be easy to learn. The touch screen simplifies things and is fast to operate to change settings etc. You will love it and it takes great pictures.
Let me repeat, I found it to be a great camera.

I took a 50 year photo break. In the. Past 18 months, I have re-educated myself and currently have a 7d2, 5d4, Sony rx10 mk4, 1dxii, a 90d, and a R6. I am currently learning the R6. The Canons are all similar, the Sony was very challenging. U-tube tutorials have helped the most, lots of them. Go thru them slowly, with the camera in front of you, starting and stopping and rewinding, and it will slowly start coming together. I use the 90d the most now, or the Sony. I do cattle pics, wildlife, landscapes, family, photos of opportunity around the ranch.

I've had my 80D for 4 years and it has been an excellent camera and I've shot around 60,000 photos with it. I'm going to get a 90D soon, but will keep the 80D as a back-up.

I have two 80D's and talked two of my friends into getting one. Short of going full-frame I believe this is the best bang for the buck out there, but I admit to having a Canon bias.

As others have said, the menu system is similar from one model to the next, and the menu system is really quite simple to learn for newbies as well.

Good luck with your new camera!

Bought my 80D in 2017 to photograph the solar eclipse. Over the years it has served me well. You will love the easy access to all of 80D's features through the touch screen. I bought my 90D last year, but use that and my 80D interchangeably.

I too switched from a Canon Rebel to an 80D and love it. Similar screens and controls, so easy learning. Good luck.

I started with a t4i and added the 80d. You will love it! The learning curve is not bad at all.

I started with a T3i and went to the 80D. I love the camera and have nothing but good things to say about it except for low light situations which it doesn’t perform well in.

I love my 80D (upgraded from T5i). I don’t feel that your learning curve will be drastic. Make sure to read the manual and shoot, shoot, shoot. I also shoot with a 90D. Enjoy your camera and your images.

The 90D has improved low light performance over the 80D, however I'm satisfied with the 80D in that regard, especially using Topaz Denoise and then Lightroom. Here are some photos that I took at night, hand-held from a moving ship at 5000 and 6400 ISO. They were taken with the EF-S 18-135 lens. https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-667776-1.html and https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-667900-1.html

Pretty much an echo of above comments; thoroughly satisfied with my 80d. Always keep an 18-135 lens on for “walk around”. I think it’s hard to beat, for wildlife, with a 100-400 lens. I’m just a hobbyist but that’s my opinion.
