I'm sure support for Win7 will be around for a while. XP support is supposed to end in April 2014.
I was told Vista support was going away next year..
I have two PC's one with W7 and this one with W8. I still use both but once I finally at home with W8 I will go to WS on both.
Everyone is saying to stay away from it as there are a lot of bugs that still need to be worked out. The new Explorer also is really causeing problems as well.
I don't use explorer so no worries on that point. I am getting positive comments from people who have actually upgraded. You can get the pro upgrade from Microsoft for $39.99 and get the media pack for free through the end of January. If you go to the stores it's $69.99.
Windows 8 installed and running well. Took about an hour to install and set up. Everything under the tiled page looks the same. I think I'm gonna like it....
Windows Explorer is now called File Explorer, is accessed quickly via the Windows Key+X and you will see the familiar W7 explorer. One of the knacks in W8 is to get to know, or in my case, have list of what the windows key does.

I was jusst checking out Fil Explorer... It's a lot different...for example how do you select all from a folder..used to have an Organize pull down...did they eliminate that?
Doesn't work with Photoshop CS4 yet
CS5 is fine...what happens with CS4?
The verdict is still out some say yes some no, I won't upgrade to win 8 until they get the bugs out, Right now I don't have $650 laying around for CS5
