Have you taken the weight of this lens (800 g.) into account? They call this a “convenience lens,” but IMHO it is far too heavy for any kind of casual photography. I bought one (used), tried it “walking around,” sold it. I’ll carry a heavier lens for birding, but not for everyday. If the 300mm is important, the AF-P 70-300 is lighter and very highly rated.
Right. Mine was bundled at negative $$. It would have cost extra to refuse it !
And altho I have no problems with image quality, it’s size and weight of does limit its usefulness. So I usually tend to ignore my verrrry versatile free lens and carry something less burdensome despite a narrower range, something that I really paid actual $$ for !
The 28–300’s IQ is far better than the poor impression you’ll get around here. Consider the source ! It’s mainly its size that makes it a wallflower.
