It is the age-old problem of electronic communication. People are willing to say certain things to someone else when they are not face to face. You see, when you are face to face, the offended person can reach out and slap you. When they are miles apart and the communication is non-verbal, you can say things that bring no immediate consequence, such as the slap in the face.

I think they call people who do that cowards, chickens, etc, etc, along with some expressions that would not be appropriate if you want to avoid being classified with the offenders.

BTW, I love this website and pretty much ignore the nay-sayers.

Unfortunately it seems to becoming more and more common that websites that were intended to help each other are subjected to IDIOTS who think they’re funny.
Ignore these people, there are lots of nice people that are still willing to help.
I wish the admins who run these websites, would monitor and take the sarcastic people off the roster.

Just smile.
Sometimes being a smart-ass will improve your photography as much as a mirrorless camera.

Don't give up some people are very helpful, some a little and others are jerks.

The person to whom I think you are referring is one of the most knowledgeable people on this site. I have benefitted from his help and expertise.

He may well be, but he doesn't have to be so condescending. He is a jerk, many times with his responses to me, I don't like jerks!

jradose, you asked a question 8 months ago and got 6 pages of comments. You raised the same issue a few days ago. You were reminded of that and asked if you had acted on the suggestions made in your earlier topic.

I'm guessing the poster you refer to is one who is very knowledgeable and helpful but has a sarcastic streak. Sarcasm is hurtful. I get that. But, with all due respect, I think that in this case you're overreacting.

Good, everyone has the right to express his/her opinion, but he/she does not have the right to dictate what other's opinion should be. The person I am referring to may be superior to me, but, he is inferior to me when it comes to congeniality. His "mightier than thou" attitude stinks to high heaven. If he doesn't like my posts (and you also), find a way to block me and my posts, then you won't have to put up with deplorable ole me! So, STUFF IT!!

I don't care when what was discussed, or how may times.

The people who breath UHH might remember a subject being discussed prior,
but I sure as hell do not read EVERY SINGLE POST here! So I might miss it the first time also.
Besides, the person who made the "duplicate post" may not have read the "first go around".
I'm SURELY NOT GOING TO SEARCH to see if what I want to post was done prior. Especially with people using such lousy un-informing post titles.

If they're upset, it's their problem, not ours!

Hmm, I know how you feel, but:
1. If you give in and take them seriously - THEY WIN - so ignore them the old fashioned way or via the ignore setting on the site.
2. They can only bother you if you let them - DON'T LET THEM!
3. For everyone of those there are a big pile of other people on UHH - concentrate on the other people.
4. Just think "it is water falling on my back and I am a duck" No problem.

And, well this is also a bit of a put down if you allow it to be one and think of it that way, it isn't, it is advice:
It is time to Cowboy Up and be one of the tough that just keep going when the going gets tough.
I was a teacher for 35 years and often other faculty members would want to know why I was not upset like them about something going on at our school or in the district.(They were often having a total freak out.)
I would give a mini speech of Q&A:
"Are there enemy sappers in the wire at 10 meters?-no Are there landmines and bobby traps on campus?-no Are we under sniper fire?-no
Is there incoming mortar or artillery rounds?-no Are we in an ambush?-no OK, then things really aren't bad enough for me to get upset about." (I am a Regular Army veteran of 2 years, 2 months, 2 days of Vietnam combat time, 1966 through 1969, according to my DD214. So there is not really much that happens in "The World" that can make my list of REALLY BAD SH*T.

After 22 years in the military (71-94) that's been my way of looking at things. Food not good, "I've eaten worse" Sleeping accommodations not 5 star, "I've slept in worse places". My go to: "well, nobody's shooting at us are they?" While enlisted I always thought it was just them, after I crossed over to the "dark" side (SSGT to 2LT), nope, the officers did the same thing. One of my favorite ones is when I was running a compass course (pre GPS days). I had a Major who was complaining that he would never need to do this (all personnel by order of the commander were required to do this training) My Sgt (former Ranger) told me about his pissing and moaning and was there anything I could do. I told him to send him on the course at starting post A to end at post 12 (most went from A to 1, B to 2 etc). Not a good route, but we saved it for the problem people. 3 hours later we had to go rescue him from being lost in the woods.

Try to do the duck thing and just let it roll off you. Don't let a few disgruntled people ruin it for you. For everyone of them, there are probably hundreds that just blow them off without comment. Lots of great people and photos.

Yes, his arrogance leads to sarcasm and sarcastic remarks directed at someone are hurtful. But, as has been said by others, that's only one side of his character and perhaps a small one. He is one of the most knowledgable persons on UHH and one, when he's not in his snotty mood, will give you excellent advice. I believe that we are all part angel and part a..hole - only the proportions vary.

I never said or implied that I don't like your posts. I found your last topic very interesting. I responded to your initial post in the current topic only because I felt you were misleading people and I wanted to set the record straight. I probably should have staid out of this but I find it hard to sit still when I see people rushing to judgement when the facts have been misrepresented. Sorry if I offended you, that was not the intent.

I'm not sure why people would ask the same question twice. I can understand different people asking the same (similar) question.
They forgot that they asked?
Hoping for a different answer? Maybe one they liked?
Hoping to get different people to reply?

Or possibly because a large number of members are seniors and sometimes those senior moments cause some of us to forget something we did a few days or weeks ago, possibly.
