Thank you TriX. Yes, this needs to be made aware of by all men.

I was treated with protons at Loma Linda in California five years ago. I continue to have a very low PSA & I get checked every six months for a medical study I enrolled in when I first started proton therapy. The cancer is long gone. Knowing my PSA and learning about proton therapy saved my life, without a doubt.

Good for you Victor! Glad to hear of your successful treatment. After the 3 month PSA check I will probably be getting it done every 6 months also.

After going thru 5 1/2 weeks of radiation treatments for stage 2 prostate cancer. I got to ring a big brass bell in a hallway near the radiation area, after my last treatment. They asked me if I wanted to, and I said, hell yeah!
The good news is that my PSA level was checked the week before, and it was down to .002.
It will be checked again on 12/22. Hopefully, it will be down to 0 by then. That will be the best Christmas present I could get.
All men should have their PSA levels checked between the ages of 50-59.
The earlier prostate cancer can be detected, the better the survival chances are.

Oh yeah, I rang the bell 8 years ago, Prostate Cancer. If I had it to do over I'm not sure I would.

Great news, Will. Prayers and thoughts going your way that the results continue along those lines and your goal is reached by Christmas.

BTW, I just, theoretically, finished chemo for the same. Doing fine on this end.

Congratulations.
I had the same situation and treatment. PSA is checked every 6 months, and remains undetectable after 3 years.
Only downside is that I always expected that my end would be at the hands of a jealous husband. I guess that is out!

You are one of the lucky ones. Good, advice about early checkups.
