Noise reduction. If you don't ask questions, you never know. Hell I still ask questions when I am not sure about something.

Thanks again Jules. Will do and especially keep practicing !
BTW what do you mean by NR ? Pardon my ignorance. Paul
Paul,
Noise Reduction. Read that article I posted. It's a game changer for low light photography.

Here is a good one for today.
I go to a girls soccer game which just happens to be the last game of the year. Refs don't show up. I only live 3 miles from the school so no problem, but geezz!

Nice shot!! Never happened to me. I have gone to a school to shoot a game and find out they moved it. Not a good feeling. Really shouldn't tell anyone about this but here goes. A year or so ago I went to a football game, got there went to back of car opened lid looked under blanket I usually cover my camera gear with and NOTHING. I went back and sat in car and got to thinking YES you are a professional photographer AREN"T YOU!!! Just to be sure I called Wife and asks her to go to office and look around, she walked back to office and first thing said (I LOVE MY WIFE) did you need your camera. Me being the smart ass said NO I was just checking to be sure where it was. Getting old is sometimes a challenge. Thanks BE SAFE!!

Oh yea one other thing. Are all your young ladies in Vegas as beautiful as these young ladies?? Thanks BE SAFE!

Would see like the appropriate answer to the above question is “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!”
Thanks Rick, will do.
Tom - I agree. Getting old is a big challenge. Especially roaming the sidelines! Stay safe all ! Paul

Hi Paul: Sometimes it may be the camera and the iso. Everyone has to do some research on say Nikon model number and iso and high iso. There are settings on Nikon and Canon camera:
Picture Control-under sharpening--set to one click back from max.
Shooting Menu-Long exposure NR to On.
High iso NR set to On
High iso set to On
These settings are for my Nikon cameras D500 and D4
You can't go wrong, your images will improve day or night. Never touch these settings no matter what you are shooting, sports, weddings, etc.
You won't be sorry.
Tom-Rick-Paul-Stephen make sure you set this up either with Nikon or Canon.

Jules,
Taking your advice and adjusting all of my cameras (D800, D810, Z6) that I use for sports
questions:
1) picture control - my nikons list "standard", "neutral", "vivid" on the D800
D810 has same options as above + "flat"
Z6 has same options as above + "auto"
I ignored "monochrome" "portrait" and "landscape"
what did you mean by undersharpening?
2) High ISO NR is "on" for all 3 cameras
options on the menu include "high", "normal", and "low"
I have my cameras set to "high"
Would this be your recommendation as well?
thanks
Stephen

I can't wait now for next Saturday I am shooting 6A Kansas Soccer Consulation/Championship games. Hope the weather is Ok. I am too old for bad weather. So far looks good partly cloudy and 52 Deg. We will see. Thanks I really appreciate all your expertise, you make me and all of us so much better. HBE SAFE!!

I am so glad Tom about the camera settings. Cloudy is good although higher iso but not to worry shoot tight and it doesn't matter. No cropping, well maybe a tiny bit lol. I have a soccer playoff tomorrow boys and girls on Tuesday. The rest of the week my daughter is coming into town so I won't shoot anything more. Waiting for the next week football playoffs.
Be well,
Jules
