Strange coincidence, was just out in the pickup and a Montana coyote ran across U.S.12 right in front of me. No cars in either direction, stopped grabbed the camera and got off 3 through the windshield with the D3 and 80-200 @200mm. The first is a blur, the last two not to my standards (or equal to yours) but show a healthy one, and by gosh I gottem. Brought me some luck, you did!

Glad to be of service quixdraw. These were my first decent shot of a less than decent Coyote

A lot of crop. This was a long reach for a 90mm macro lens

Interesting shot. That is one scrawny looking coyote. Here is a photo of one in my yard that seems to be better feed. I had to take this through a window so as not to scare it off.

I think it rude and against protocol for you to post on top of Curmudgeon without his permission!

Doesn't look healthy. Much more skinny than the ones I've seen near my house.

Good catch, Jack. As pointed out by others, scraggly looking critter, though.

That is one pathetic looking animal and one to avoid. When a coyote looks like this and is out prowling in the daylight it is undoubtedly suffering from mange and should be reported to wildlife authorities.

That is a sick looking coyote. I thought there were no coyotes in Florida but most recently, while driving near a woody area of Coral Gables here in Miami I saw the police protecting a young coyote that seemed to me ventured into the residential area close to the woods. I have never seen one before but I could not stop to see what exactly was going on due to the traffic and the restrictions imposed by the police.

Yeah he is, life's rough in the desert.

You do have to wonder about mange. I got some videos of a coyote outside my mom's yard in Tucson, and he had almost no hair at all. You might have thought this one was pretty far off, but he looks like he thinks you're WAY too close.

Mange is very likely. As I said, desert Coyotes live a rough life. Urban Coyotes on the other hand do quite well.
