El Coyote--Also known as the Trickster

A lot of crop. This was a long reach for a 90mm macro lens

He is looking a bit underfed, Jack. Not enough cats in your neighborhood?

Here in the Portland, OR metro area there must be a lot of missing cats. Our coyotes look really well fed!

Good catches, but a very sorry looking specimen. The ones we see out here could pose for dog food ads. Glossy, well furred and filled out.

Nice set of a poor-looking specimen, Jack.

Just a bit Mike. Living is hard in the desert

Garbage on the streets, lots of rats and other small animals, Coyotes do surprisingly well in metro areas.

Thanks for commenting quixdraw. Life is hard in the desert and animals shed most of their coat in the summer. From the looks of this one there may be mange involved. Also it hasn't learned to raid garbage cans yet.

Thanks for looking Ken, it is not exactly the animal that NatGo would be looking for.

Strange coincidence, was just out in the pickup and a Montana coyote ran across U.S.12 right in front of me. No cars in either direction, stopped grabbed the camera and got off 3 through the windshield with the D3 and 80-200 @200mm. The first is a blur, the last two not to my standards (or equal to yours) but show a healthy one, and by gosh I gottem. Brought me some luck, you did!

That is a great picture of him on the run. I did not realize they could have all 4 feet of the ground at the same time.
I hope he finds something to eat soon and not in your neighborhood.
