I write location data in my notebook. I have remote control with my F, 500c, Arca Swiss, come to think about it, all of my have that capability.

So, that's not something to desire a new camera over.

Good location data embedded? Remote control?

I only have two major purchases planned. They are both accessories to current equipment. As for new cameras, not in the game plan. The ones I have work just fine and will do so for decades to come.

Making a guess as to when or even if your camera will stop working is totally a mystery and no one can tell the future. I would say the time to upgrade to a new (or newer) camera is when you feel you have the finances and the need or desire to do so.

Well Hank, I'm still useing my Canon 5Dc. I'm an amateur of course and at 90, I don't shoot much anymore. I usually have it with me though, just in case. :-). Back when I was shooting a lot, it always did what I asked. Of course I was only pinting 8x10s in those days. Harry

I thought the D500 was the only APSC format camera to get and nothing could be better ever as it is the absolute best.
So there is no way to ever get something better ever according to UHH.

Totally agree.

One should upgrade to a new, most advanced camera body a minimum of every five years. If one has not found a reason to upgrade, or has not succumbed to GAS during any five year window; than an upgrade is necessary at the end of five years. Without that automatic five year upgrade, one would not know what is new, and what they are missing. Such an upgrade night even trigger more creativity, and better images.

Always nice to spend other people’s money.

The D500 is the top of the line for the crop camera. There will be no new DSLR's coming out, everything is going to be mirrorless.
I don't think that there will be a DSLR that will be better than the D500 in a really long time.
If you want to change, and I can't see why, it should be into mirrorless.

That appears to happen quite often here on UHH.

You like the camera, stick with it as long as it works properly.
