Please critique these two photos (Page 2): My hobby is food photography. Yes it is bite size, but we are no serving the chocolates just photography.

I have absolutely no expertise, but my instant first impression was the shadows made number two more interesting. Second thought, even better if they were softer.

I do not care for either one due to lack of depth of field. If everything was in nice sharp focus I still would not care for them due to uninteresting composition. They are too empty.

Both could use some help.
DOF issues in both, the shadows in #2 and the black "patterns" on #1 take away from the image
IMHO...

These seem mainly documentary.
I would be inclined to try a lower perspective and play with macro and different DOFs
