Perhaps you aren't a street photographer yourself or are not clear about what the genre entails. It's about unposed documentation of people out in their environment, often on city streets. Popular lenses for street photography are fast primes from 24mm to 50mm. One of the major uses of Nikon's new 28mm and 40mm lenses will be street photography. I use a 35mm lens myself for that purpose .

Considering either the new 28mm or 40mm lenses being released soon,
for street photography. Which to buy??
I do have a 24-70....
Appreciate any and all input and advice.

If you shoot with the 28mm you can crop to tighten things up. If you shoot with the 40 you can't get back what was outside the frame.

Unless size/weight is a real issue, I'd be using my 24-70 F/2.8

Thx for your input . I think I’ll take the 25-70 and my 14-30 just in case.
