Thanks, I'm leaning toward the Canon Pixma Pro 300.

Although I've had great results from the (discontinued) Pro-100, I think that, if it breaks, the Pro 300 would be my next photographic printer.

What is the best Black and White Art Printer for Landscapes, portraits, street, and architectural photos, and by best
I mean one that has a full range of inks for monochrome, grays, blacks, etc. for prints up to 11x17, under $1000.00. I have looked at Canon Pro 100, 200, and 300. They don't seem to have very many print tanks for monochrome. Am i wrong? Does Epson offer better choices? Others?

Normally I would recommend Canon printers, but the clear leader is Epson using either MIS, Ultrachrome or Piezography Inks, and the Quadtone RIP (raster image processor) - also a good baryta paper like Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique II 310 or Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta. There are differences between the baryta papers that might make one more preferable to another. But the key is the inkset and the RIP.

Isn't the Epson price quite a bit higher for a printer comparable to Canon Pixma Pro 300?

There are two pigment ink, 13" photo printers that compete directly:

1- The Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 13" Professional Photographic Inkjet Printer is $900 at B&H.
2- The Epson SureColor P700 13" Photo Printer is $800 at B&H.

Are their any other table top 13", pigment, table top printers for "home" users?

Both Epson and Canon have competing 17" pigment printers and competing 13" dye ink.

Pick print width. If 13", then pick dye ink or pigment ink. If it is 17", then it will be pigment ink. Then it is a coin toss between the two brands.
