Cell phones are superior to most point and shoot cameras

- at making phone calls! Point and shoot cameras take better photos but are rubbish at phone calls

I have an Olympus Tough 870 and carry it everywhere. Great camera. They are very "tough" too, been dropped, dunked, sat on, you name it and it still works like new.

Awesome shot ⭐⭐⭐⭐

For the possibility of an affordable acquisition cost, you might try a Pawn Shop. Some of them still make loans on some of the better pocket 📷 cameras
Advantage is you can actually try them out.

Check out the Canon G series cameras. I used a G11 for several years until a thief removed it from my truck. I bought my daughter a G12 which sshe still uses. Great cameras.

I don't like them

Then I would use tape. A small strip of Duct tape would work.

Sad that you don't like a cell phone.

Nothing sad about it. They are an invasion of privacy; nothing like being somewhere and having the phone interupt whatever you are doing. Good for emergency calls when on the road, but that's about it, as far as I'm concerned.

I have a Nikon Coolpix S570, 12Mp, 5X optical+4X digital zoom and inexpensive on Ebay. Good pocket camera!

I have too many other expenses. Not only that my wife has one and she gets a lot of annoying calls on it.

Don’t buy a Panasonic LUMIX DC-ZS70, I did and I’m sorry now. Pictures are not sharp at all. My old Nikon 3.8mp camera from the very early days of digital camera took better pictures. Look somewhere else. I bought my son an Olympus “Tough” that takes great pictures. Canon makes several reliable pocket cameras, all with good lens.

Don't tar-n-feather the Lumix DC-ZS70 just because you got a lemon. They get great reviews and I have had wonderful results with various Panasonic Lumix cameras. My current ZS50 does a great job and can't even believe the results I get with this 30X lens camera as evidenced with the attached photo of the moon. AND my ZS50 is two models prior to your ZS70.

Suggest you look at the Olympus PEN-F; a really nice little camera, but hard to find used ones.

My husband and I each have a Lumix/Panasonic DMC-FH1. It has a wrist-strap (important for my arthritic hands),
it fits in my handbag or pants pocket, even in my husband's shirt pocket. We've had these for a few years now and are still amazed at the quality of photos you can take with it!
Having said all that, my "go-to" camera is still the Olympus OM-D E-M1 mk3 as it does fit my hands better and there is definitely "more I can do with it."

Hi everyone,

I've been using an Olympus FE-140 for a long time. Bought a second one on fleabay for cheap. One of its major problems is that the battery compartment doors break on these and you can't lock them. Good used is okay if the seller guarantees it. I'd get something fancier but I'm overwhelmed with auto problems and the cost of parts.

Thanks and be well

AR

It would seem that you could buy one or two of these from eBay and use them as parts. If you are capable of such, maybe a little practice and you be able to fix the battery compartment door.

I vote for the Oly Tough. Also, I have a Fuji XP purchased from Costco years ago...which they still sell. Waterproof, takes only jpeg, but is tough. I keep it in my tackle bag or pocket when out to sea fishing. I rinse salt water off of it and it keeps on working.
