Hi everyone,

I've been using an Olympus FE-140 for a long time. Bought a second one on fleabay for cheap. One of its major problems is that the battery compartment doors break on these and you can't lock them. Good used is okay if the seller guarantees it. I'd get something fancier but I'm overwhelmed with auto problems and the cost of parts.

Thanks and be well

It would help if you quantify your price range and what capabilities you want in a "pocket" camera
I use a Nikon P7800 although it's a pocket full, but has a wide range a capabilities

For a camera like that why not use your cell phone?
The cell phone has zoom that is similar or better, better IQ and fits in a pocket better and you likely have one already.

An Iphone 12. Hear the camera is superb.

Tired of lugging my Nikon 7100 around the world, I put it away three years ago.

Since then I have used my Iphone X . I only display my photos on my computer and can not see the difference between my Nikon and Iphone shots.

Iphones are rather expensive - indeed too much for me. Besides the op and I do not like taking pictures with a cellphone. Indeed, I hardly ever use my cell phone for anything.

I found a Nikon Coolpix P7000 on eBay a couple of years ago. It is a 10MP bridge camera with nearly the same controls and options as a DSLR. Great IQ, small form factor, but limited zoom and uses the same battery as my D5500. When I don’t want to lug the heavy stuff, this is a great choice. I just looked on eBay and found one for $90, including battery and strap.

I have a Sony RX 100 M2 that I have enjoyed using when I don't want to carry a larger camera. I think they are on model 6 or 7 now so plenty of used ones out there. Has a 1" sensor and decent zoom range from a Zeiss lens.

If you can get a good price the Canon PowerShot S100 or S110 are fine cameras that will slip into a shirt pocket. They are 12MP and will shoot RAW. I have an S100 sitting here doing nothing that I think I will take out while the weather is nice. I usually shoot Olympus PEN cameras but in the summer they are a bit big to fit into a pocket. When I need to wear a jacket that changes!

Also, Duracell sells a Canon replacement battery, DRC5L, for $22 with free shipping. It's gotten some good reviews.

For an inexpensive "pocket camera", I have a Samsung Wb350f. 16mp,and 21XOPTICAL zoom. It obviously has full auto everything, and full wifi connection, but also enough manual control to increase the fun and quality. I only bought mine for a quick vacation so I could drop it in my pocket and not have to lug around all my dslr gear, and not worry much if I broke or lost it. I have to say, I was completely surprised at how good it actually is! Way better than I was expecting, considering it's not one of the "real" camera manufacturers. And it's good enough for me to really enjoy using, (can get really creative with various settings), and yet put it in auto, and it's easy for the kids to use and still get great shots of their own. I know "Samsung" might not be the obvious choice for a dedicated camera, but for a point and shoot /pocket type camera, it easily compares with the usual choices at a fraction of the cost. Hope this is of some help to you, good luck and keep shooting.

One warning: some companies have started recycling model numbers.
For example, there are 2 Canon S110 cameras, one very old (silver color), and one newer one (black color).
Make sure to check specs on any model that interests you.

The Panasonic Lumix ZS100 is currently selling for less than $400 in the U.S. It has a one inch sensor, a zoom range of 25mm-250mm, and a bunch of features like 4K photo/video capture. It has an electronic view finder and a touch screen, although the screen does not flip out. It's an older camera (it's been around since 2016) but it still is a good buy in 2021.
