Mac vs PC
Would like to hear your thoughts, pros and cons of each.
I can not decide what to get next.

For my money I am a Mac user.

I was a Windows user for many years but over 10 years ago I switched and have never regretted that. There’s no question that Macs are slightly more expensive but my analysis is they represent better value.

In the long run, Macs are actually cheaper. Why do I say that? I've been through three PCs. With Adobe, I frequently saw the blue screen of death. Enough was enough. Switched to Mac, never saw a blue screen of death, and my Mac is now eleven years old. I have friends that have been using the same Mac for more than 15 years. That's why I say they are cheaper in the long run.

Ditto to the two responses above. I used PC’s over 20 years due to workplace having them. After my 5th or 6th PC crashed thought id try a MAC. A little bit of a learning curve but now going on 10th year of one MAC (27 inch deak top). Also large IPad and a small portable MAc. NEVER would even think about going back to a PC

Less expensive in the long run, not cheaper...

My MAC is ten years old. When necessary, it will be replaced with another MAC.

Mac. We have both and although windows has gotten better (not updating every few months with many issues) it also depends on what you main use is. For photos and videos Mac wins by far.

I've been a windows user since it's inception. However, I do believe that Windows is by far the most virus and attack prone of all, not to mention failed updates, etc. I've also really grown tired of telling the computer to shut down and having it take forever to do so. It often has to do an update prior to shutting down and sometimes I just don't know what it's actually doing and it takes forever. Frankly, there's much too much going on in the background on virtually all of today's operating systems and Windows is probably the worst of all. I never did load Windows 10, because of all it's data monitoring! While I still use Windows 7 on my photo editing computer, it has not been on the internet now for over 5 years due to previous problems with updates and infections. I now use an Android Chromebook for all my internet activity and have had very few issues. I do hate the way they want you to send everything to the cloud and especially dislike that I can't directly hook up a USB printer, but it serves it's purpose and is a lot more reliable than any Windows system I have used.

As for Apple, I used that system at work for quite awhile and didn't much care for it. I also don't much care for the way Apple tries to lock you in to their profit center. I bought an I-Pad awhile back and I couldn't even turn the damn thing on without giving them my credit card number to keep on file. I took it back the next day and haven't even considered an Apple product since.

There is another alternative that I am now also using in the Open Access, Linux operating systems, but it does take some computer savvy. I am currently using "Mint" on an older windows laptop and find much of it to be very similar to Windows. Making the conversion was not easy for me and I'm still working out a few driver bugs, but this appears to be the future for me, especially if I buy a new machine. They aren't cheap already set up, but at least the software is free and open access and I have to say that I've learned a lot trying to get Mint up and running on my own. Good luck and good shooting to all.

Now a MacBook Pro owner for 8 years (Mid 2013 13”) I would not go back to a PC. The PC’s I owned were barely operable after 3 years use. The price gap of the PC’s are narrowing and value is not! Mac’s come pre installed with good software, so no need to purchase additional software and Operating system updates are free. I’m waiting for the the MacBook Pro update in the fall or spring of next year and will upgrade, but only because I want to. Current one works as good as it did the day I purchased it!!!

I switched to an iMac, about 5 years ago and it still handles all my more demanding programs like Affinity, with ease. Just knowing it's going to boot up without problem and upgrades never cause even the slightest trouble make it worth the extra money, to me.

To each his own.
