Have you tried running a file recovery utility like RescuePro or Wondershare Recoverit on the files?
I was able to open your file, but only using RescuePRO. My copy came free with Sandisk SD cards. Once it recovers the file the utility will fix the error in the file so it can be opened normally. Some files may not be 100% recovered, in which case part of the image will be missing, but this one seems OK.
Not clear what caused the file to become corrupted (most likely some type of bad shutdown), but there is an easy fix.

I had this happen once and tried everything to recover the files. If you search on line you may find free software that might work. It didn't for me.
As you know even when you write over a file, old information is still "buried" on the media. I found a place locally that was able to do a deep dive and recover the files. It cost me about $100. You may have a similar service in your area. Google "data recovery."
The MUST is have a back up. Have every thing on 2 separate drives. You last 1 picture if your drive goes you lost them all.
Can you copy them to a flash drive and try them on a different computer? Try to open them with Irfanview (free).
As far as I'm concerned, anyone who regularly works with flash media, and values their work product, will have RescuePRO or a similar professional quality software on hand in case of emergency.
The sooner you stop messing around with half-baked attempts to open the damaged files and actually recover the data, the less chance that the images will be overwritten or further degraded.
More unusual is what happened here where the images were apparently damaged after they were transferred to a computer hard drive, but it does happen. And on a drive that's performing functions for a plethora of applications, the chance of further file degradation as the drive is operating is enhanced, more so than on a singular purpose SD card or the like. So time is of the essence.
I will down load my pictures from the camera to TWO separate external hard drives by date (today 210904). Then when finished processioning I will load on to 2 other external hard drives by name (Activity or location). I now (lost pictures with hard drive in the past. NEVER AGAIN!

Is it possible you selected the wrong jpg format from a pull-down menu, like JPG2000 or JPG Stereo?

Thanks. Never thought of that since I have the files. I do have theme elsewhere but do have some that I know I don’t have. Whew.
Thanks again

Time to put a backup system in place?
I recommend you run a hardware diagnosis on your system and pay particular attention to the hard drive portion.
Also as mentioned improper shut down can cause errors in the data. Please allow the system to shut down normally.
Why? Here us an example of why it’s important:
My GF switched power off on the power strip while the computer was still shutting down. Trashed the data on the drive. The computer wouldn’t even boot.

Thanks. That’s my niece. She is lovely.

Try opening these files in a dedicated graphics utility such as GraphicConverter rather than a browser and see what happens. If you still have the original SD or CF cards, try reading directly from them.

Has happened to me though not with the OS disk. There are programs that will recover the drive. I use GetDataBack. Not exactly cheap, but I can vouch that the lifetime license really is (I had an older NTFS recovery version and successfully upgraded to their newer one program version that recovers multiple drive types with the original license).
Couple of months ago, late night finger problem corrupted the MFT and partition info. Drive became a RAW drive. GetDataBack recreated the MFT/partition so I could copy all the data to a new drive.
https://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htmA number of similar programs exist: this is the one I've used.
