I had an 8mm Mauser that had swastikas stamped on the barrel. I attached a sniper scope from Folsom Prison armory I got at a gun show. Don't remember the scope specs, but I had no problem grouping 4" at 200yds.

Good thing he reloads! I had a Mitchell's Mauser (M48?) for a number of years. Never shot it much. A few months ago, I recall seeing new factory ammo going for roughly $3.00 per shot - IF you could even find any!
My first deer rifle was a 8mm Mauser. Bought it a woolworths for $25
that is why, I believe, you handload... Factory loads by volume (powder), you handload by weight. Anyone know?? I did about the same with a 222rem, handload, years ago @ 100 yards, put a nickle over the holes and you could not see a scratch on it. 18 1/5gr/4198/50gr Hornidy
was your Mauser made in Oberndorf a/N or made in Weimar Germany.
I owned the Turkish model with the strait bolt. It was in pristine condition but sadly I had to hand it in when the new gun control laws were introduced in Australia.

I had a 6.5 mm swedish Mauser that was the most accurate gun I ever seen.

Did the new laws curb crime ?
Yes, that is a question that I would like to know too.
