Those are wonderful photos but not because of the camera….

Some would say in spite of the camera.
I shall stay with my Sony RX10M4 and the Sansung Galaxy S20 FE. I can get better results at 600 zoom than with the iPhone along with going places and doing things the iPhone can't do.

Having had a bridge camera in the past I certainly wouldn't call the 12 Pro a bridge camera, but it definitely beats out my old kodak and HP point and shoot cameras that I first started learning photography on and couldn't figure out why I couldn't get the pictures I wanted to capture with them. I don't use the HE setting on my 12 Pro since I had no way of being able to then open the files and work on them with my windows computer. However, I think the quality of the JPEGs it puts out are spectacular.

Finally caved in and upgraded considering the latest upgrade offer from my carrier. Pulled it out of my pocket and captured a couple momentary images on Squam Lake (NH). These are not post-processed at all. Setting was at High Efficiency that yields a small(er) file size. Has RAW capability but seems you can't get from there to a PC, just a Mac or via ICloud. Maybe not for the purists out there but overall, not bad, all factors considered.
Very nice images. I use a bridge camera (Leica V-LUX), (Panasonic ZS100) and Sony A6000.
I have absolutely no use for a smart phone (I use a flip phone for emergencies). I do not wish to be connected or bothered when I am out doing things.....yes I am old!

Go into Settings >> Camera and check "Most Compatible" will save as JPEG.
Thank you. Much easier than running a conversion program.
I have a Nikon D-850 and will use it as long as I do not have to get onto an airplane, i.e. use D-850 for short trips via car, etc. But, as you did, I just purchased my "bridge" camera too except not iPhone but Samsung. I went for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra which has enhanced camera vs the S21 or S21+. I'm still learning how to best use the Ultra but it is great on photos and video. Again, it won't replace the D-850 which I love but it is so nice to have a "bridge" camera always with me in my pocket. Good luck to you too with your new purchase. BTW, isn't it great it doubles as a phone too?
I just bought Samsung S21 Ultra 5G. The camera is amazing. 4 lenses: 13mm f2.2 at12 Mpix, 24mm F1.8 at 10Mpix, 70mm f2.4 at 10Mpix and 240mm f4.9 at 10Mpix.
Selfie is 26mm f2.8 at 40 Mpix.
I sometimes think that this camera may replace a bag full of bodies and lenses. Of course, I will still carry with me my Z6 and Z7 with Z lenses, but it's nice to know that if don't have them with me, I have an alternative in the pocket.

If I don't have a cable I just email the HEIC images to my laptop and have no problem processing them as needed on Photoshop Elements. Generally they need nothing done. Sometimes a horizon needs leveling. I can crop them if needed in the camera very easily. I am very impressed with the dynamic range and color rendition in the images from my iPhone 11 Pro.
Here are some shots from a Canon T7i, Canon EOS R6 and iPhone 12 Pro
