Jerry, glad you are safe and sound we would have surly missed you here. Sounds like your were prepared and on top of the damage to the roof quickly. Really glad that you didn't suffer too much water damage and hope you will be fully up and running quickly.

Yesterday we lost electricity, cable (internet), and a good part of our roof. A giant hemlock broke and landed on our roof. There was lots of daylight and rain coming in, so I scrambled to get some tarps put up inside to divert the water either outside or into plastic pails. Within 24 hours, the tree is gone, and we have plywood and a tarp on the roof.

Actually, we were lucky because we didn't get the heavy rain and high winds that were predicted, and our power and cable were back on within 24 hours. Fortunately, we have a generator, so we had lights, water, and refrigeration.

Hey best to you Jerry. Very sorry to hear of your misfortune. Are your cameras ok? Sorry, couldn't resist!

My cameras were the first things on my mind. I checked on them - and the lenses. Then I went in to see if my wife was OK. :D Kidding, of course.

I'm glad we have a two stores home.

We live in a great community. As soon as the tree hit, I went out to take pictures, and I saw half a dozen neighbors walking my way to offer their help. They later got tarps and stuff ready to cover the holes in the roof. Fortunately, I found a pro to do the work. All of the people who worked on the roof and the tree were townspeople we have known for years.

Jerry, I'm glad to hear that you and the wife are OK. I'm in SE Pa, near the Delaware River and the storm blew through here last night. We have a 150 year old maple tree in the yard, so I know what it is to worry about a tree falling on the house. Luckily, we sustained no damage but we are without power and are being told it may take a week or more to repair. We do have a generator and the phone and internet still work. I can hold out until the gasoline runs out. Our local volunteer Fire Department is providing Lunches and Dinners to all townspeople. Love this small town living!

Best wishes!

A generator is great in a situation like this. It can be tough in the long term, though. We went through 10 gal of gas in 24 hrs, at about $4.00/gal. Still, it beats having no lights, heat, or water.

Jerry, Glad to hear that you are OK. A house can be fixed or replaced. You can't.
