Wow, Sarah!!

You know something??

You've managed to capture the attention and FREE advice from some of the very top brass in this forum... and all because you had the courage to make this post and open yourself to the experience you've received as a result.

You are ENVIED... secretly... for that *grins*

It wasn't your best wedding series.
THAT is yet to come as you mature and learn and grow.

But it IS your best effort in your current level of knowledge and skill.

For that... hold your head high and be proud!

(And by ALL means, if you are given an opportunity to be mentored, formally OR informally by any of the commenting gentlemen in this list... be a smart girl and soak it up like a sponge. You'll amaze yourself someday!)

I was thinking the same thing, Tilde! Beautifully stated ~ Sarah, hang with this forum and you will be amazed at what you learn. I asked a top notch wildlife photographer on this site to view some photos that I finally got up my nerve to post. He emailed me back and I was so honored that he had taken the time to comment on each photo. His advice and correction are burned in my memory and I'm looking forward to my next photo opportunity.

Sarah! I am glad you are back!!! Keep posting and learning! I wish when I started I could have had this much help. I wasted a lot of film learning.:) The learn curve isn't any easier, but it sure is cheaper.:) Gather your friends and family and do some people shots for us. We promise not to laugh at them.:):)

Yep, he's mine - his name is Dave.......!
He was about 6-7 weeks old in that photo, he's about 4 months or so now. In politically correct speak, he would be described as having challenging behaviour....!!
Still, he's good company.....!

SarahLouise, don't be put off by these harsh replies. I'm sure your friends were very happy with your photos and that is the main thing. Be happy with your efforts but I don't have to tell you that you will get better every day. It's easy to be a "know-it-all" when you have decades of experience behind you but we all start somewhere. And here's something I've noticed while checking out so-called professional wedding photographers' websites. A lot of the stuff is awful. It's hoaky or ordinary or makes me cringe! Develop your own style and continue to learn how to make great images. Never give up!

And to those of you who commented harshly, try to develop a better approach to newbies. You can criticize their work without putting them down. Remember that at the beginning of your photographic journey, you produced a few duds yourself!

The attached post processed prints took me 8 minutes for ALL of them from loading to re posting

Thanks, I am 18, not the most confident person and i wanted advise to help me learn but you have completely knocked my confidence.

Well i could say just about the same as what the others are saying . Ill just say this . save a set of what you got here . And if you enter the realm of making a living with your camera . Pull these pictures out from where you kept them for the last five or ten years . And you can judge them your self .
I see nothing here that i would pay good money for . But in five years ????

Who knows. Good luck

It is not my intent to belittle your first stab at wedding photography but if you are asking "Is this good enough?" you already know the answer.

They are nice snap shots which could be greatly improved by learning some basic techniques not limited to the following:

Get your flash off the camera and elevated to hide the flash shadow behind the subject.

Take the people out of the sun and into the shade.

You are right on the money SARAH and RJH . Its nice when you find others who are Up to par. In evaluating photo's. You say it much better than me . I just piss people off . But i know a good pic from a bad one. "i think"
Learn how to use your flash out of doors (high speed sync) for fill flash.

Learn the basics of composition.

Learn the basics of posing...two subjects in a photo, both looking in different directions? Tree hugging?

Learn the basics of post process especially cropping. The spiral staircase photos draw my attention to the staircase and not the subject. Cropping to eliminate most of the staircase and filling the frame with the subject while using a portion of the staircase as leading lines might not be a bad idea. Eliminate red eye, sharpen, etc.

Learn how to blend your flash with incandescent with a CTO or CTY gel so you match the color temperature of the ambient lighting. The flash is about 6000 K while the ambient incandescent light is about 2900 K , the subject looks washed out next to the wall sconce.

Learn how to focus your camera and how to manipulate depth of field. A number of the photos are soft/out of focus.

The photos are good enough for an "Uncle Bob" but not for a pro wedding photographer. I am sure the bride and groom will appreciate your candid photos of their special day. Good luck

I am learning slowly and i am learning from my mistakes. :)
