Why not let idiots carry?, we elect idiots to run the country!! Well it seems like it.

Guns just don't go off, the trigger has to be pulled! Also, leaving the chamber empty means that likely both hands will be needed to chamber a round and it takes more time. Micro seconds count when someone is trying to kill you.

In the 1950's -1960's there was a holster that allowed you to carry a 11911 colt with the slide held back and chamber empty, when you released the strap the slide raised the gun out of the holster and chambered a round. Sounded scary as hell to me

I do carry sometimes, but never with safety off or Hammer cocked.

You probably shouldn’t have said that you carry sometimes. I read in a gun magazine that if you shoot someone, a lawyer could bring up that sometime and use it against you; as in “Why did you carry the gun this time? We’re you expecting trouble? Why did you come here then? We’re you looking for trouble?”
It’s a much easier defense to say that I always carry, and let the lawyers prove otherwise.

In reference to the latest gun buying frenzy people have purchased pistols that they don't know how to load them, nor what caliber the weapons uses, does one think these types are proficient enough to handle a weapon? What does the 2A have to do with it?

I wonder about the wife's "stride" after the shot!

Very true. But like TriX wrote, if practiced 2 handed drawing and chamber can be one motion.

Very true, I did not think of that. I may have to change my ways.

Permitless carry is on the books in Tennessee. I’m sure we’ll see an uptick in stupid accidents like that one and unfortunately those with far worse outcomes. Law enforcement was universally opposed to the legislation for obvious reasons. They now have to assume anyone they encounter is armed.

I suspect that his CCW handgun was a Glock for the safety is a little lever in the trigger and there have been many accidental discharges when folks are putting them into the holster. Here's a video of a DEA Agent giving a firearm safety presentation at a school when he shots himself in the leg with a Glock 40. https://youtu.be/vfONckOPyaI
