Hi All, Any suggestions for pulling my HEIC images off my iPhone. Photos converts to a .jpg. Coolmuster pulls the images but removes the date they were shot and all other metadata. I do really want to keep the metadata. Open to any suggestions and thanks in advance!

Install the CopyTrans Photo app and use the "Full Backup" feature for transfer.

That's why I don't like Apple products - all the hoop jumping to do what should be really simple tasks.

In photos, there is a menu item you can check - download in a “compatible format”. My photos retain all the meta data.

With the Pro Photo app, you can shoot in RAW. Problem solved.

Look for the app "Image Capture" in your applications folder or a subfolder. It's free on Macs.

If using iPhone 12 Pro:

Settings - Photos - Transfer to Mac or PC - Choose “Keep Originals”

Dave,

Do you mind explaining where in the menu one can change the download of an image - for example, in the iPhone (I have the iPhone 12 Max Pro)? If I am correct, I think what you are suggesting is to go to Settings, click on Camera, click on Formats, and then, click on Most Compatible?

Thank you,
joan

I don’t think any new app needed. I have same phone and photos show up on my iMac soon after taking pic with phone. Suggestions from others about choosing to keep original should be sufficient. I generally open photos on my iMac with Lightroom if significant editing needed. I can export from Photos on iMac in HEIC or other formats as needed.

In all the updates that particular choice has gone away.

My mistake. It’s Pro Camera.

On my iPhone 7, in "settings, photos, transfer to mac or pc." I chose "Keep Originals." In Photos on my aging Dell XPS laptop, the files are converted to Jpg, but all file info is maintained. Are you looking for the original HEIC file?

When you take any images/video with an Iphone (mine is an 11 but not the pro model) the images are automatically saved to the cloud to ICloud (Icloud.com). Pick what you want and then, in the upper right corner, click on the arrow that points up. ICloud automatically creates a zip file on your computer in the location you choose. Unzip the zip file which automatically stores them in an unzipped IPhone folder. They will automatically convert to JPeg.

CORRECTION OF MY EARLIER POST: If the iPhone saved the file as a HEIC file, it transfers it the same way, "Photos" opens it as an .HEIC, and maintains the original file details.
