Vote with your wallet. Do not purchase these programs.

I can add to you rant: Releases of programs by the same company with similar and confusing names and functions.

just because a person uses all caps does not really mean they are yelling at you. sometimes it's just a personal preference, sometimes they really aren't skilled at typing and only use two fingers to peck and paw there letters. maybe it's they learned to navigate with a mouse and auto correct mostly fixes everything. i understand they are going to stop teaching cursive. will that mean that we will no longer have a signature? i am using no caps, cause i don't want to incur your wrath. i am not trying to yell at you. just trying to splain it best i can. i only hope none of this has a negative consequence on my photography. anyway, enjoy the day. try to stay calm.

I am having a bit of difficulty in understanding how a post admonishing the OP for using caps is of any more value than a negative attack on the OPs intellect. If the former is reprehensible, the latter is even more so. Civility, thy name is history.

I hope this was not directed at my post. However, I can see why it might apply. I sincerely apologize if my post may have appeared to imply this. My intent was to say that people have different ways of expressing there thoughts and we should not blame there method and need to listen to what they are saying. I further apologize for having helped move the conversation off the original attempted concept. Thanks for helping to see that. I forgot my first rule is to mind my own business. Have a great day :)

Why not just keep everything simple.
Write online as you write in a letter.
When is the last time you wrote to someone in...all caps?

Frankie C., my post did not apply to your comments by any means, and my apologies if you felt that it did. I had in mind certain earlier posts whose contents were less than charitable towards the OP.

This is a long standing internet "standard" or "best practice". It has been such since the late 1980s when we had dial up modems and message boards. Get use to it if you are going to use it.

I really don't get the OP. Now, I will go in the closet and come out hoping that my eyes can adjust. I'm out.

A note on netiquette: all caps is recognized as yelling.

Nobody likes to be yelled at.

As I worked as sysadmin at a BBS many years ago, I wrote a script to automatically delete all-caps posts and substitute them with a random ironic sentence.

What a great idea! Maybe something similar can be worked out here?

Okay, okay, I get it. Using caps is considered yelling online. This is something I didn't know. My apologizes to all who were offended. I'm surprised at how offensive caps might be. I appreciate the comments regarding the substance of my question but I'm not asking for a new program or a new computer or a new car for free, I'm just wondering how many of us purchase a program and then two weeks later find out that there are new improvements that will make it significantly better. These brand new improvements will speed up, make more accurate, add beauty and correct the bugs that came with the original purchase of the program. I bought these bugs, you charged me for them. Why do I have to pay to fix your mistakes and/or oversights? If it were a car I'd call it a lemon. The new improved steering wheel will keep it on the road, the improved brakes will stop it sooner, the air conditioning will really cool things off with the new super refrigeration additive. None of this is covered by your warranty by the way. How about a software warranty? It's a crazy idea, but a real sales pitch I might fall for.
With a little research I've found that most of the new aesthetic "improvements" being offered by these companies are available online for free.

I get where you are coming from. As a manager of a hospital lab, I was on a team that was responsible for implementing a new software program. We had to write all the dictionaries (this is the window that pops up and you can chose something from the list) and test how it worked. It is impossible to imagine all the ways an individual can mess up the intent of the program. We did not write the software itself; but had to “customize” it for our own needs. Upper management kept pushing us to “go live”; but I delayed it as long as possible to work out the bugs. We had to write our own training manual and train the entire staff and the doctors were the worst students. Once live, the company worked with us to work out the kinks FOR A LIMITED TIME.

So, based on that experience, I think software companies should offer free upgrades to fix bugs that weren’t anticipated during the testing phase. That is how some of the programs I own currently operate. Quicken comes to mind. I pay an annual fee and get free upgrades all year. Sometimes a company changes the software and makes it WORSE. That happened with Lightroom a few years back when they tried to make it simpler (they thought) and all of us “seasoned” users complained LOUDLY and they changed it back.

Anyway, it is aggravating to buy a program only to be asked to pay for “bug fixes” shortly afterwards. It’s ongoing and I, for one, am trying to eliminate as many of these programs as possible. I WISH I still had desktop versions of QUICKEN, WORD and EXCEL I don’t need or use their “improvements” but now I’m stuck in their subscription plans. I’ll keep Adobe, though

If you are willing to limit your creativity, that is fine with me. Keep taking those happy snaps with those freebie utilities that are just fronts for capturing your data and selling it in the cloud.

And, I object to your characterization of what you refer to as "hungry salespeople. The commission model for software sales direct to the consumer no longer exists. Besides, you never made any income on the software; it was service and support where the bucks were.

I spent 50 years in sales, and always had the customer's interests as my primary motivating factor, which is why I was so successful. However, for you, I'd make an exception.
