ACE, that is not true. All caps typically represents "yelling or shouting". The upper-lower case is easier to read. I would think you would want people to read your post so that the content is concentrated on. Its just like when you are speaking; when someone yells, the listener tends to be put off and misses the content.

First off, if one has eye problems...typing in all caps is a useless argument.
I mean, you do know what YOU are writing...so...no need for you to read what you wrote.
Secondly, you can always use Ctrl+ to make fonts on this page bigger...as big as you wish.

Lastly, use what you need and can afford. It's a personal choice.
However, like any other industry, if no one made coin...there would be little if any innovation within said industry.
If no one made profits on computers we'd still be using 286's...if at all.

I concur 100% with your statement, ". . . if you had a business like the one you describe, free software, free updates for life, free support, etc - you'd be out of business in a very short time." A great example of this is the business model recent change made by Topaz Products". They had a pretty good product and they started charging for updates and their products became much faster, and better by incremental leaps and bounds. At first, I was upset because I had signed up for "free updates for life" and shortly after signing up, they started charging for the updates. Truthfully, their products are now far superior in every way for my use. Once you have paid for a year's update and you open that program up it will let you know if an update is available and you will also receive an email announcing the latest update. Just click on the link your update starts automatically in either case. You don't have to remember to go to the Topaz Products' website periodically to manually check for updates. Also, if you own several Topaz Products you will receive a "package rate" for yearly updates. For me, Topaz Products finally got it right.

Actually he is correct. It is socially unacceptable to use all caps because it is considered "YELLING".

I work for a government agency and if you use all caps in an email or document you will actually be written up. It's so "unwoke" to use all caps! Come on man!

I’m not sure this is a worth conversation on a beautiful Saturday morning. Nobody is forcing you to buy anything. If I have included a product in my normal workflow, and the developer has spent the effort to improve it, I don’t mind spending a few bucks to get a better product. I upgrade occasionally, but only when I feel the upgrade is significant. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BUY IT.

Some people use all caps because they don't want to capitalize some letters. They hate to have to press the shift key so instead of using all lower case they tend to choose all caps. Regardless of the eyesight for the same size font the all caps is more difficult to read.

This guy needs a therapist big time. Some real anger issues going on there. How does he think the companies are going to stay in business - it cost money to upgrade a complex piece of software. These hi-tech people don't work for free. I pay $10.00 a month for PS and LR and I get the latest and greatest version all the time. I'm happy, they are happy and the world keeps rolling along.
