On the net ALL CAPS is considered to be shouting and therefore not polite.

Set your browser to something above 100% instead.

I do that on many things I want to read on the net since I was born extremely near sighted and since starting to get far sighted in my 50s I have made progress but am still very near sighted. I joke with my eye doctor that I will finally get to see what 20/20 is like somewhere around 150.

Okay, okay, I get it. Using caps is considered yelling online. This is something I didn't know. My apologizes to all who were offended. I'm surprised at how offensive caps might be. I appreciate the comments regarding the substance of my question but I'm not asking for a new program or a new computer or a new car for free, I'm just wondering how many of us purchase a program and then two weeks later find out that there are new improvements that will make it significantly better. These brand new improvements will speed up, make more accurate, add beauty and correct the bugs that came with the original purchase of the program. I bought these bugs, you charged me for them. Why do I have to pay to fix your mistakes and/or oversights? If it were a car I'd call it a lemon. The new improved steering wheel will keep it on the road, the improved brakes will stop it sooner, the air conditioning will really cool things off with the new super refrigeration additive. None of this is covered by your warranty by the way. How about a software warranty? It's a crazy idea, but a real sales pitch I might fall for.
With a little research I've found that most of the new aesthetic "improvements" being offered by these companies are available online for free.

It's everything that we make. We always find out later that the work can be improved. You don't see so much upgrade can be done without changing a lot physically so they leave it that way. Software can be changed easily so when there is something better they update. And the work is never done. You always find something you can improve upon so you don't want to delay the release of the product because you may want to change something shortly later.

The testing that the software companies do can not come near the testing a few 100K or a few million users can give it. They find bugs, things left out, the computers get better and can handle more powerful apps etc. Some of them could write apps in code that would blow you to the moon and only work on a few mainframes or the latest and greatest power user desktops - and therefore almost no one would buy it. So they write code for the "average" desktop or laptop and improve as they figure out how to make the improvements run on peoples computers.

I am running an i9 with 32GB RAM (and have the sims to take it to 64 when I get around to opening the case), an 8 GB video card and a 32" Photo/Graphic Arts Monitor and the latest SSD for my OS & Apps. Yes, on some sites I find fonts so small I have to take the browser to 150% or more - like the scientific e-mag I was just reading, they were using a small font to cram more info in per page in some Paleoanthropology articles about the latest things in human ancestry etc.

Software is a tough business.

I’ve been writing software for 60 years or so and although I test my programs a lot before I commit to using them there is always something that needs improvement. Good thing I don’t depend on my software for a living.

Even the pros miss things now and then. People don’t always use software in predictable ways.

The programs I pay for will usually correct problems for free but they will charge for new features.

I found a bug in one Quicken version. I contacted the company to see if there was an update to correct it, they suggested I buy the new version when it comes out shortly. Another reason why I'm still using the 2007 version....

Hi Ace,

I feel your pain and am here to relieve it. What you need to do is download GIMP. It's a free, open source, PP program that's been around for years. The bugs are fixed for free and the upgrades are free also. See, all that yelling for nothing. Now calm down and carry on.

You don't have to upgrade anything if it doesn't help you. I still use Adobe CS6 which is 8 years old. My cameras are all between 4 and 8 years old. Some of my lenses are 20 years old. I upgraded all of the Windows operating systems from the days of DOS and 5" floppy disks to the present Windows 10 for free. Since I got my first dslr 7 years ago, I have bought all my cameras and lenses used on ebay. Why rant about something you can easily control?

companies need to create new products to keep revenue flowing...lest they go out of business.
All caps, all lower case, I could care less. I just figured you had a bad day or who knows what was going on...The masters of their small universe care, for some reason and feel compelled to publicly comment and add to someone's bad day.

Since the dawn of the internet, using all caps or higher case has been considered impolite and taken to imply the writer is shouting.
I too find a story written totally in capital letters difficult to read, but then again I do wear glasses for shortsightedness.

Rather than depending on the SELLER to beware, the best advice suggests that the BUYER beware. Or, perhaps a better phrase is "BE AWARE"!

Be aware of your needs and requirements as to equipment and software. Don't buy impulsively and shop carefully. Read the small print, study the policies, agreements, and stipulations as o to expiry dates, upgrades, and consistency and availability of service, check out the company.

As a seller of service, I believe in the old adage that rather than SELLING folks on some things, you should help them to buy well so that they remain satisfied. In the long run, you may not maximize every sale but you will serve more people for a greater length of time. Satisfied customer brings more business. Dissatisfied customers suffer from sticker shock, buyer's remorse, and post bad online reviews- toxic for any business.

Sorry folks, sometimes I use upper case letters to emphasize certain words- this may help readers grasp some of my points- or not. Conforming to forum rules is a good concept but perhaps it's best to inform about or enforc rules via PM, rather than kinda public shaming. When fols are upset, it's better to calm them down and help them to resolve the issues by sharing your own experiences and offer advice based on those expereinces.

We could all go back to scratching our artwork on cave walls. Hell, that worked for 100s if not 1000s of years.

Back in the 80s, a new computer product (software and hardware) was introduced every 7 hours. It costs money to write maintain and support software, and to stay competitive in the marketplace. If you don't like innovation and product enhancement, then stick to what you like. No one is twisting your arm. You get what you pay for, but more importantly, you don't ever get what you don't pay for. Your suggestion for a business model shows complete ignorance of how business works, especially the software business, and if you had a business like the one you describe, free software, free updates for life, free support, etc - you'd be out of business in a very short time. So keep your rant to yourself - you sound like a madman with all the caps.

BTW, how long do you keep your cars?
