ARGUING ABOUT FONT SIZE IS NOT WHAT I JOINED UHH FOR. If I wanted to use lower case I would use it. WHY ARE YOU GUYS SO PICKY-PICKY? It's really not the size of the font but how you use it.

Any way it's against the forum rules:
"- Do not make posts in all capital letters. This includes topic titles. (You might consider using your browser's zoom feature to increase the size of the font in case you are experiencing difficulties reading/writing.)"

What did you want to post? Maybe you're still willing to try to communicate in a way that is both readable and intelligible?

And using all caps is considered yelling.

Also suggest changing the font size in your browser if you need larger type.

Not for EVERYONE ......this forum, as are ALL forums, about communication and getting your point across in a most understandable manner .......otherwise we just move on - shaking our heads .....

And, YES I agree about all the sense less costly "updates" for EVERYTHINGS.....

I'M REALLY FED UP WITH THE UPDATES, THE ADJUSTMENT... (show quote)

Oh yes! And the same goes for these bloody cameras, where you can't even get an upgrade, you have to buy a whole new camera! And I'll bet Honda will want me to pay for a whole new vehicle when I want an electric! And how about that Shakespeare guy, always writing new plays; you'd think if you bought a ticket to the first one, you'd be able to see all the rest, right? And those bloody airlines; man, every time I want to go on a plane, I have to buy a whole new ticket!!! And light bulbs; every time one burns out, I have to pay for a whole new one! And food, OMG!!! Seems like no sooner do I finish breakfast, I've gotta shell out for lunch, and then it's dinner, and then we have to do it all over again the next day and the next day and the next! We need a revolution I tell you! A revolution!

Thanks Ace. I for one feel much better now.

You can increase the font on your screen, or even just your browser and spare the rest of use from the onslaught of having to reduce the font of a a broken CAPS Lock button.

Obviously not bright enough.

Talking about the screen of course.

DO YOU ACTUALLY BELIEVE YOU SPEAK FOR EVERYBODY? MAYBE MY EYESIGHT REQUIRES ME TO USE CAPS, EVER CONSIDER THE SUBSTANCE OF MY "RANT" RATHER THAN THE SIZE OF THE LETTERS I USE TO EXPRESS MY OPINIONS? YOUR REPLY REVEALS HOW REALLY SHORTSIGHTED SOME PEOPLE ARE.

Apparently you aren't aware that using all caps on the internet is widely considered to be shouting.
From the forum rules:

You will lose the argument that it is acceptable to use all caps. Get over it.

Seriously folks!

Sometimes a good rant or an expression of anger is therapeutic. I'm no psychologist but once in a while folks have to let the steam out of the safety valve in the mental pressure cooker., feel better, and move on. Criticizing them for getting mad makes them angry- it's only human!

It's not like in the good old days where you purchased some fine cameras and lenses, set up a decent darkroom and the gear would just about last for a lifetime. Even in my own long professional career, equipment upgrades were, in the film era, more subtle, measured and incremental. Nowadays there is a new and accelerated meaning to "built-in obsolescence", everything has expiry dates like foods and medications Even photographers "expire" after a while so what's the use of all the hostility- life is too short and getting shorter all the time!

Manufacturers, seemingly and regularly discontinue parts and services on costly equipment. And many of us do want the latest and greatest gear and software and are willing to pay for it.

The keyword in the OP's compliant is "SELLING" Editing software providers sell software. If they don't collect renewal fees, introduce new improvements and products, they have nothing to SELL. If they sell all their wears with a lifetime license, they will probably fail to survive.

I don't know about y'all, but since switched I switched to digital, even with all the computer maintenance and software fees, it's still more cost-effective than running a darkroom and a colour lab or outsourcing the work. The machines, processors, plumbing, water filtration, mixing, plotting chemistry QC graphs monitor replenishment rates, and believe me the list goes on and the production TIME! Labour intensive for sure!

Photograhy is an expensive hobby and business. We live in a capitalistic, free enterprise, work-for-profit society, I hate to say it but, it is what it is!

Okay, okay, I get it. Using caps is considered yelling online. This is something I didn't know. My apologizes to all who were offended. I'm surprised at how offensive caps might be. I appreciate the comments regarding the substance of my question but I'm not asking for a new program or a new computer or a new car for free, I'm just wondering how many of us purchase a program and then two weeks later find out that there are new improvements that will make it significantly better. These brand new improvements will speed up, make more accurate, add beauty and correct the bugs that came with the original purchase of the program. I bought these bugs, you charged me for them. Why do I have to pay to fix your mistakes and/or oversights? If it were a car I'd call it a lemon. The new improved steering wheel will keep it on the road, the improved brakes will stop it sooner, the air conditioning will really cool things off with the new super refrigeration additive. None of this is covered by your warranty by the way. How about a software warranty? It's a crazy idea, but a real sales pitch I might fall for.
With a little research I've found that most of the new aesthetic "improvements" being offered by these companies are available online for free.

...

Depends on the individual...

I'm using Quicken 2007;
I used Elements 7 until I upgraded to 14; until I upgraded to 19;
Still using WS-FTP from 1995;
Excel and Word on my laptop are 2003; ...

They do what I need.
I don't require the latest and greatest.
