Wow!!! I found out this is not easy.... Especially with a 55-200mm Nikor kit lens (my longest). and my first time. All i sequence from start to setting.
Full moon was the best but its not real sharp. None of the was. I tried both manual focus and auto. They were also to far left. I started at F9, ISO 200, 1/200th, then went from there. The red was not good at all. I think I'll stick to my usual.
I shot in different spots of the frame to compose together easer. But I think I'll do some (a lot) more practice and try again next time, Nov 19, 2021 (just Eclipse).

You did a great job, I wasn't lucky enough to get clear skies and it's impossible to focus through clouds.

You still got an excellent sequence of shots.

Thank you very much Alberto.
Infinity pre focus on auto focus lens can't be trusted for focus at all. You must manual focus for best results

A very nice sequence of the eclipse, frank! I enjoyed it.
An excellent first try at shooting the moon. Many people have focus difficulty with astronomy subjects. Some people will focus the camera and lens at an infinity distance while the sun is still up. Then they use some masking tape to hold the focus/zoom settings for later use that night.
The 55-200 is a good general lens. This is perhaps more of a test than this lens is capable of handling if you have higher expectations. But, you've got to decide if you are going to shoot telephoto pics more often (birds, sports, animals, the moon) to justify the purchase of a fixed focal length or longer zoom. Some of each are available in the used lens market at much lower prices than new. Be sure to check out third party tests for any of the older lenses you might be tempted to buy.
Looks great to me for a first time adventure.
