Wow!!! I found out this is not easy.... Especially with a 55-200mm Nikor kit lens (my longest). and my first time. All i sequence from start to setting.
Full moon was the best but its not real sharp. None of the was. I tried both manual focus and auto. They were also to far left. I started at F9, ISO 200, 1/200th, then went from there. The red was not good at all. I think I'll stick to my usual.
I shot in different spots of the frame to compose together easer. But I think I'll do some (a lot) more practice and try again next time, Nov 19, 2021 (just Eclipse).
Well done sequence, Frank!
Thanks for the thumbs up Bill! makes me feel a little better.

Thank you Carol.....I was a little disappointed, but I have seen some worse and some better. 200mm is not really long enough, but ya gotta use what you got. It did strike my fancy though. When I can afford it, I'll get a longer lens.
Nice set. I saw 1/2 of the eclipse and it got cloudy pretty quickly 😕

Thank you very much. It was beautiful to see.
nice series. I do a lot of moon photos. Have nice 2 day old moon, small sliver.
Focus is by far the hardest. Rember for exposure the moon is in direct sunlight. My canon 77D with Tamaron 150-600,usually set little smaller 550 as per phone call to Tamron about performance at the max 600. They advised me to back off a drop.
I use the live view for focus and do a 5x and 10 x multiple. I find the 10 x too much most times. Stabilization off,that's another can of worms ill leave alone, and go back and forth. I find it much easier to focus on the edge. I've had telescopes for 30+ years and focus is hard and wind.
I iso 400-800 and manual set. check the photo on a 4 second review and bracket exposure from there.
You're all lucky. I would loved to see the eclispe but living in the east didn't help, but thanks for your great pics.

You are too hard on yourself Frank. Your series shows the various phases of the eclipse clearly and beautifully and is enjoyable to see. I think your settings are right around where they should be for a full moon. I believe that manual focus is better in this case. It might be while before you get another eclipse :}
For the 2017 solar eclipse I took 1500 photos. Best thing I've ever seen, except birth of children
